Seven-time Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher, who retired from F1 last year is now leading an anti-speeding campaign initiated by the Chilean government. Schumacher features in an English language TV commercial advising people not to speed while driving.
“I know you think you drive well, that it is okay to go fast. Your friends say you’re a ‘Schumacher’ and you think you’re a good driver, but please do not be stupid,” Schumacher is seen saying in the commercial.
Schumacher, who is a part of the FIA’s road safety campaign has been actively taking part in similar campaigns.
The F1 legend is not happy with the news that people compare themselves to him while over-speeding on the road.
“I took it personally that they were using my name. That’s totally wrong, as I never drive faster on normal streets. I’m a racing driver, and racing should be clearly separated from normal life,” Schumacher told the El Mercurio newspaper.
