Michael Schumacher seems to be going through a rough patch, as the World champion has finished the race in four of the last six races. Michael has had technical failures with his Mercedes W03 all four times. Last week in Monaco he was driving in 7th place when his race ended by a low fuel pressure problem. So with Canada being the 7th race of the season can the number 7 be lucky for Michael Schumacher? The answer is probably yes because, he is the seven times world champion, his car number is 7 and this is the 7th race of the season.
Despite suffering from technical problems with his car, Michael is still confident about his chances in Canada where he produced one of his best driving last year in a completely rain soaked race. This year Michael has a better car, but as Ross brawn said the team will have to ensure that Michael has no reliability problems starting from the Canadian grand prix.
Speaking ahead of Montreal grand prix Schumacher said:
“The Canadian Grand Prix is all about the great atmosphere at the track and in the city,” says Schumacher, who won in Canada seven times between 1994 and 2004. “The Canadian fans make the whole weekend into a real celebration and, for us drivers, it’s great to feel their passion for motorsport; that gives us a natural boost and it would be great to give them even more reasons to celebrate at the end of the weekend.
The race in Montreal is usually action-packed, like we saw last year. The characteristics of the circuit should suit us and we are counting on our car performing well there. As I said, a trip to Montreal is always worth it. Let’s hope we can make our trip this year especially worthwhile.”
