McLaren boss Zak Brown has taken another shot at Red Bull, claiming that his team will not be 'nasty' in its battle for the wins. The situation between the two squads got heated in the aftermath of the F1 Austrian GP. The race in Austria saw Max Verstappen and Lando Norris go at it on the track as they battled for the win. In the end, the two ended up crashing after a very aggressive dual.

What happened afterward was very interesting, as a week later in Silverstone, both Max Verstappen and Lando Norris had found a middle ground. The two drivers who were friends off the track had sorted out their differences and were willing to move on from the incident.

McLaren team principal and boss, however, were not. Andrea Stella revealed that he had a conversation with the FIA stewards about the driving standards. McLaren boss Zak Brown raised the tension even more when he claimed that Red Bull does not respect the rules.

The American has now fired another shot at his rivals, this time by claiming that his team will fight hard but never be nasty to its rivals. As quoted by Motorsports.com, Brown said,

"We're prepared to go toe-to-toe. Nasty is not how McLaren goes racing. I think you can go toe-to-toe, but you don't have to be nasty about it. They seem to, at times, have a win-at-all-costs mentality. That's not how we go racing, but we think you can go toe-to-toe and take the fight to them our own way."

McLaren boss welcomes the battle with Red Bull

McLaren boss Zak Brown was questioned about this seismic shift from his team being a midfield contender to eventually transforming into a frontrunner. Brown said that there was a level of added pressure when it came to competing at the front but added that the team was enjoying this new dimension to the competition. He said,

"It's exciting. It's a good stress of going: 'Don't get this wrong because this is for a race win', and when it's a fourth or a fifth or an eighth it's [different]. But I think it's enjoyable."

He added,

"I'm on pitwall and the tone of the team led by Andrea [Stella, team principal], by Randy [Singh, racing director]... you wouldn't know if we're racing for the win or we're in 10th. I think that's what you want to see. There's nothing on pitwall like: 'Oh my god, we're in the lead'. It's business as usual, so the team is definitely up for it."

It will be interesting to see what the next phase of the competition is going to be between the two teams, as the war of words is certainly not dying down at the moment.
