Williams F1 team unveiled a special 'Union Jack' tribute livery for the 2024 British GP this weekend. The British team is one of the most successful in the sport's history, having won 114 times since being formed in 1977 under the leadership of Sir Frank Williams.

The team has its headquarters in Grove and have been operating for the sport from the base since the beginning. The livery will be a tribute to the over 1000 members team members working in Grove, New York, and London bases to push the racing operations forward.

As per Williams's official website, the names of the team members would be present on the red, white, and blue engine cover on the car for the British GP in Silverstone.

The gesture highlights the hard work and exceptional determination of the members in their quest to take the team forward on the track. They faced a particularly tough time at the beginning of the season when they had to make a spare chassis after consecutive crashes in Australia and Japan.

The British GP tribute livery will also feature the Manchester-based team partner THG's Myprotein brand written on the rear wing of the FW46 instead of Williams on other races.

Williams F1 team boss provides an update on Carlos Sainz's contract ahead of the British GP

Williams F1 team principal James Vowles stated that as a team, they have done 'everything' possible to lure Carlos Sainz to sign a contract for them for the 2025 season.

Speaking to "The Race", Vowles discussed the situation in Austria and said:

“We've done everything we can from our side to present to him and his family why I believe this is the right place for him, why actually this isn't an outside bet. This is both culturally and politically, but also from the strength of investment and people, the right place for him to be, and he’ll be pleasantly surprised by where we are in ‘26."
“But ultimately, it's his choice. He has to make a choice in what he feels and where he wants to be. [He was] not expecting to be choosing between two works teams towards the back of the grid and Williams, but he is. That's the situation. I feel for him because it's not a situation he expected to be in,” he added.

The Ferrari driver had mentioned that he wouldn't be making any announcements at the British GP and claimed that while the teams were pressuring him to make the decision, he would take his time to make the 'important' decision about his future.

It was reported that the Spanish driver was close to signing for the Grove-based outfit at his home race in Barcelona but decided to put a pause on the deal as Alpine came into the fray.
