British Grand Prix organizer gives his take on fans' hostility towards Max Verstappen.
British Grand Prix organizer Stuart Pringle stated that he was convinced That there would be no hostility towards Red Bull driver Max Verstappen after his controversial collision with home favorite Lando Norris during the Austrian Grand Prix last weekend.
Speaking with Sky Sports's Craig Slater, Pringle said:
"I'm absolutely sure of that. Our fans are first and foremost fans of sport. Of course, they have their favorite team, but they are spread across. There are a lot of Red Bull fans. Lando's very popular, George [Russell] and Lewis are very popular."
Pringle also praised the British fans for their understanding of the sport and claimed they recognize 'great performance' while pointing towards the three-time world champion's performances in the 2024 season. He added:
"Actually what British F1 fans recognize is a great performance, and let's be honest, when Max has won in the last two or three races pre-Austria, the thing that's made the difference has been his personal performance."
"That hasn't been the quickest car, but when he's had to do the business, he's been spot on. And people have recognized that in this country and across the sport, so I have no worries about that," he added.
Max Verstappen has been previously booed by the British crowd in the last couple of British Grand Prix due to his titanic tussle against the seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton in their epic 2021 title battle.
