After a thrilling British GP, the F1 circus arrives in Budapest for the 2024 F1 Hungarian GP. Teams have already settled in their respective garages and are preparing for Friday practice sessions to kick off the race weekend.

The race at Silverstone saw a four-way battle for the race win between McLaren's Lando Norris, Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, and Red Bull's Max Verstappen.

Though the defending world champion was far behind in the beginning, he drastically closed up the gap to the top and managed to secure P2. Meanwhile, Norris had a fast car underneath him but was unable to take advantage of it due to questionable pitstops by McLaren.

Meanwhile, George Russell's pace was looking promising, but he had to retire from the race due to an issue in his car. Mercedes' star Lewis Hamilton, on the other hand, drove brilliantly and won the British GP with the help of accurate pitstops from his team. This was his first win in 945 days, making it a memorable one for the seven-time world champion.

Coming to Hungarian GP, several teams have brought yet another upgrade package before the summer break begins.

2024 F1 Hungarian GP: List of upgrades

Red Bull

  • Coke/Engine Cover (Circuit Specific)
  • Halo (Circuit Specific)
  • Rear Corner (Performance)
  • Front Wing (Performance)
  • Front Corner (Performance)

After facing stiff competition from its rivals in 2024, Red Bull is working hard on RB20. Before the Hungarian GP, the defending world champions brought a new engine cover to improve cooling efficiency at Hungaroring specifically. They also brought a new halo, rear wheel cover bodywork, front wing, and revised front lower wishbone to improve the overall aerodynamics around the car.

Mercedes

  • Rear Corner (Performance)

Mercedes have drastically closed the gap to the top teams like Ferrari, McLaren, and Red Bull. In the Austrian and British GPs, the Silver Arrows looked feisty and won both races. For Hungarian GP, they only brought a different rear endplate trim to reduce local airflow and improve rear downforce.

Ferrari

  • Floor Body (Performance)

In recent races, Ferrari experienced a dip in performance. They were unable to challenge for a win in Spain, Austria, and England. Charles Leclerc suffered quite a lot as he only managed to score 12 points in the last three races.

For Hungary, the Italian giants have only brought one new part. However, that one part is an important one since it is a completely reworked floor underbody. It has minor geometrical changes that aim to enhance airflow structure and stability.

Aston Martin

  • Front Wing (Circuit Specific)
  • Halo (Performance)
  • Floor Body (Performance)
  • Floor Fences (Performance)
  • Floor Edge (Performance)
  • Diffuser (Performance)
  • Beam Wing (Performance)

Aston Martin has been struggling to keep up with other top teams on the grid. They have consistently finished in the middle of the pack in 2024. Hence, they aim to drastically improve their F1 car by bringing a sizable upgrade package to the Hungaroring.

They have brought parts like a front wing, floor body, floor fences, floor edges, diffuser, and beam wing, all of which contribute to the aerodynamic efficiency and load management around the car.

Alpine

  • Rear Corner (Circuit Specific)

After a poor start to the 2024 F1 season, Alpine has pushed itself up the grid and is now competing for top 10 finishes. For the Hungarian GP, they have only brought new inlets and exit ducts around the rear tires to manage rear brake temperatures.

Williams

  • Coke/Engine Cover (Circuit Specific)

Williams has been struggling to score decent points throughout the 2024 F1 season. As of now, they only have four points in their pockets as a constructor. For the race at Budapest, the British team has brought a new central exit duct for an optimized cooling system for the race.

Visa Cash App RB

  • Front Cover (Circuit Specific)
  • Rear Corner (Performance)

Visa Cash App RB had its moments in certain races in 2024 but has struggled to score points overall. They are currently sixth in the constructors' table with 31 points in total.

For Hungarian GP, the team has brought new internal ducts to improve airflow through the brakes for cooling. They have changed the geometry of the rear winglets for additional downforce.

Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber

  • Sidepod Inlet (Performance)
  • Coke/Engine Cover (Performance)
  • Floor Body (Performance)
  • Floor Edge (Performance)
  • Rear Corner (Performance)
  • Rear Suspension (Performance)
  • Halo (Performance)
  • Mirror (Performance)
  • Headrest (Performance)

Sauber is last in the constructors' championship table. They have yet to score a point in the 2024 F1 season. For the Hungarian GP, they have brought a massive upgrade package.

Most of the parts by the Swiss team focus on improving the aerodynamic efficiency around the car. They have brought brand new floor parts, rear suspension fairings, and even new driver headrests and mirrors to improve the airflow.

Haas

  • Coke/Engine Cover (Circuit Specific)
  • Cooling Louvers (Circuit Specific)

Haas has scored some decent points in the 2024 F1 race, especially considering their performance in recent years. They are in seventh place in the constructors' table with 27 points.

For the Hungarian GP, they have brought a new engine cover and cooling louvers to improve the airflow and cool the insides of the car more efficiently.
