F1 will return to the track after a three-week break at the annual US Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, this weekend. Despite having two more races on the calendar in the same country, the race in Austin has maintained its appeal and charm amongst the F1 community and fans for the racing it has provided over the years.
The 2024 edition of the US Grand Prix will again see a Sprint race, as it did last year, which could be pivotal in deciding the championship at the end of the season. McLaren driver Lando Norris has the momentum after dominating the Singapore GP weekend and closing the gap to Max Verstappen to 52 points with six races and three Sprints remaining at this point.
Apart from the limited practice sessions, the weather could also play a part as the windy conditions in Texas have often caught out drivers. As per Williams Racing's official website, below is the weather forecast for the 2024 US Grand Prix:

Mercedes F1 director chimes in on the "last upgrade" for the US Grand Prix
Speaking ahead of the US GP this coming weekend, Mercedes Technical Director James Allison said the team would bring a new upgrade package to the US Grand Prix this weekend which would be the last substantial package of the year.
Speaking with F1.com, Allison said:
“[In the break] we'll be trying to figure out how to mitigate what ailed us this weekend [in Singapore], how to figure out how to make the tires run better on these sort of overheating circuits and we'll be also doing quite a lot of work to bring our last upgrade of the season together.
“We've got a fairly substantial set of new clothes for the car coming for Austin that we hope will give us a decent weekend there. So we've got to deliver all that and get ourselves ready for these last few races of the year.”
Mercedes have not won at the Circuit of the Americas since the 2019 season. It previously dominated every race at the track apart from the 2018 edition. The German team has found itself as the fourth-best team on the grid this year, having accumulated 329 points in 18 races and three sprints thus far in the constructors' championship.
The team will look to have a more competitive outing at the US Grand Prix this weekend given that they have been lagging behind their rivals since the summer break.
