The official release date of the Brad Pitt-starrer F1 movie has finally been revealed. The Lewis Hamilton-backed film will hit theaters on June 27, 2025.

The upcoming movie has been a collaborative effort between two major studios, Apple Original Films and Warner Bros. It stars Brad Pitt and Damson Idris in lead roles.

Pitt plays Sonny Hayes, a retired F1 racer making a comeback, while Idris takes on the role of a rookie driver called Joshua Pearce. The duo race in a fictional team called APXGP alongside established teams such as Red Bull Racing, Ferrari, Mercedes-AMG, McLaren, and the rest of the grid.

Speaking with Esquire, F1 legend Lewis Hamilton explained his role as a producer:

"We (Hamilton and screenwriter Ehren Kruger) would sit and talk about what racing is about. Then once he wrote the script, I would sit with him and call bulls***, basically, on the things that don’t seem real and are not what F1 is about and try to make sure that it’s as authentic as possible."

The $300M-worth (as per Celebrity Net Worth) Formula 1 megastar's efforts have paid off. The movie has finally got its release date. This news was shared by the Daily Express (express.co.uk).

Here's a look at the official teaser of the movie on F1's X page:

Apart from Pitt and Idris, the movie also features actors such as Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Abdul Salis, and Will Merrick. It will also feature clips from actual F1 races from iconic locations like Silverstone, Hungary, Spa, Monza, Zandvoort, Japan, Las Vegas, Abu Dhabi and Mexico.

The reason behind using actual racing footage and clips of real F1 drivers is possibly to make the movie look authentic. Apart from featuring stunning visuals, the film will also feature background scores created by Hans Zimmer.

"I think he’s going to blow people away” - Lewis Hamilton praises Top Gun director Joseph Kosinski for his unique approach to capturing high-speed F1 sequences

The seven-time Formula 1 world champion, Lewis Hamilton, has been vocal about the upcoming 'F1' movie. The Mercedes-AMG driver spoke about the Brad Pitt-starrer film on the 'Hot Ones' show.

The British F1 legend praised the Top Gun director Joseph Kosinski on the show hosted by Sean Evens. He explained why it is difficult to show speed in real time.

"You can’t have a truck following filming us at 200 miles an hour, so it’s all kind of faked at a slower speed and they speed it up. But this is all real-time, real speed," Hamilton said. (2:28 onwards)

"Back then they would have men laying on the front of the car with the camera, you know, like, or have a big camera on top of the helmet, where now we’ve got all this amazing new technology. So I feel like Joe (Joseph Kosinski), honestly, I think he’s going to blow people away,” he added. (2:40 onwards)

With the release date finally revealed, fans will likely be waiting to witness the Lewis Hamilton-backed movie.
