Lewis Hamilton is all set to have Riccardo Adami as his race engineer with Scuderia Ferrari from the 2025 F1 season. According to media reports, Sebastian Vettel and Carlos Sainz's former race engineer will now join hands with the seven-time world champion in the new chapter of his career.
Hamilton broke ties with Mercedes following the conclusion of the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix as announced in February. The seven-time world champion, who spent 11 years of his racing career with the Silver Arrows, decided to spend his last few years with Scuderia Ferrari.
The British driver's stint will begin in 2025 and last beyond, as he has signed a multi-year deal. However, he is likely to undergo several changes. First things first, Hamilton will be required to move to Maranello before he jumps into the Ferrari garage.
Moreover, the Italian team has begun preparations to help Hamilton settle in. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the seven-time world champion will join hands with race engineer Riccardo Adami in 2025.
Adami is a big name in the world of motorsports. The 51-year-old began his career with Minardi before switching to Ferrari in 2015.
Meanwhile, Hamilton reportedly tried convincing Peter Bonnington to join him at Ferrari. However, Bono was bound by his contract with Mercedes and chose to stay back, resulting in a promotion. He will instead work with Andrea Kimi Antonelli in the upcoming season.
Hamilton has been accustomed to life at Mercedes as he spent over a decade in the United Kingdom. However, moving to Italy will be a different experience. His official induction in the Prancing Horse is still pending as the driver is currently enjoying his off-season with friends and family.
Lewis Hamilton shares first message on his impending move to Ferrari
Effective January 1, 2025, Lewis Hamilton is officially a Ferrari driver. He shared a detailed post on LinkedIn to express his excitement ahead of the big season with the Italian team.
"I could not be more excited for the year ahead. Moving to Scuderia Ferrari, there's a lot to reflect on. To anyone considering their next move in 2025: embrace the change. Whether you're switching industries, learning a new skill, or even just taking on new challenges, remember that reinvention is powerful," he wrote.
The 2025 season will see many changes in the grid. Hamilton's move to Ferrari triggered a wave of shake-ups in the drivers market. Carlos Sainz signed with Williams Racing, whereas Liam Lawson has replaced Sergio Perez at Red Bull.
Kimi Antonelli will replace the seven-time world champion and another rookie, Oliver Bearman, will be seen in Haas.
