Mercedes driver and seven-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton once opened up about his chances of competing at the Summer Olympics and emulating his friend and fencer Miles Chamley-Watson. The Brit is considered to be one of the greatest drivers in F1 history, and already has a number of records to his name.

There aren't many things left at the pinnacle of motorsport that the 39-year-old has not yet achieved in his legendary career. In an interview with CNN released earlier this year, Hamilton was asked about potentially going to Paris during the Summer Olympics and cheering for the British contingent.

Although Lewis Hamilton did extend his support to his good friend and fencer Miles Chamley-Watson for the event, he is hesitant to go and cheer him on in person. He said:

"So, I have a really good friend, Miles Chamley-Watson, who’s competing in fencing. We’ve been supporting each other all the time, and we talk pretty much every day. So, I know how hard he’s been working, and I would love to be with him on that."
“But I’m also aware of me being present at certain events. For example, if I go see my brother’s race, I know how much extra pressure it brings. So, I haven’t committed to it yet."

When he was asked about possibly competing at the Olympics in surfing, given his prowess on the board, he replied:

"No, I'm not good enough to be in the Olympics [with surfing] but maybe I'll do an Olympic sport one day."

Lewis Hamilton gives his take on his Belgian GP win last weekend

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton said that he had 'mixed emotions' after winning the Belgian GP despite recording his second victory in three races as his teammate George Russell, who crossed the line in P1, was disqualified for having an underweight car.

The Brit said on his social media:

"Mixed feelings for today’s result. Obviously happy to get the win but I feel for George and it's disappointing for the team not to get the 1-2. A lot of positives to take from today though. At the start of the weekend, we didn’t expect to be at the front or at the pace we had."
"So it’s great to see just how much progress has been made and that we are in the fight. We take all these positives with us into the break and will come back a stronger team ready to keep the momentum going."

After 14 races and three sprints, Lewis Hamilton has moved into P6 in the driver's championship standings ahead of his teammate Russell and Red Bull driver Sergio Perez, with 150 points heading into the summer break.
