WWE superstar John Cena recently shared that he was the voice behind Honda Motorsport's advertisement that featured Ayrton Senna and Max Verstappen. Cena was honored to narrate the inspirational video from the Japanese giants.
Recently, Honda created an advertisement to further promote their motorsport division. In the past, they have worked with various teams in both four and two-wheeler motorsport series. One of the most notable partnerships they had was with McLaren and Red Bull F1 teams. They have won championships with the late Ayrton Senna and Max Verstappen.
The advertisement starts by showing how drivers and engineers have failed in the past while finding the limit. Several crashes and adrenaline-filled racers were seen expressing their sorrow and anger. However, the clip takes an interesting turn, where the entire narration is read from the bottom to the top, showcasing how these racing drivers and engineers rose back from their failures and became successful.
A few days after the advertisement went live, John Cena reposted it on his official social media accounts and wrote that he was honored and proud to be able to read this powerful message in Honda's ad. He wrote,
"You won’t remember my name……until I make it impossible to forget. Proud to be the voice behind this powerful message from @honda."
Ayrton Senna and Max Verstappen's strong relationship with Honda during their F1 stints
Apart from showcasing various motorsport engineers and drivers, the two of the most notable faces in Honda's recent advertisement were Ayrton Senna and Max Verstappen.
Both these F1 drivers have worked with Honda and won races and titles with them. Ayrton Senna has been driving Honda engines even before he won his first world championship. He worked with them from his days in Lotus in the late 80s.
Senna continued his strong relationship with Honda when he moved to McLaren in 1988, driving alongside his future rival, Alain Prost. In the British team, he won his first world championship in 1988. Beco won all three world championships with Honda.
When it comes to Max Verstappen, he joined Red Bull when he was still using Renault engines. In 2018, however, the team shifted to Honda power units and saw a jump in their performance.
Honda's arrival and Verstappen's exponential improvement in racecraft became a perfect match as the Dutchman challenged Lewis Hamilton for the drivers' world championship in 2021.
Though Honda once again decided to take a step back from F1, their engines continued to help Verstappen clinch the 2022 and 2023 world titles with ease. As of now, these Honda power units are managed and further tweaked by Red Bull engineers themselves as the Japanese giants have left F1 after 2021.
