Adrian Newey's wife Amanda Newey recently posted a picture of the Red Bull aero wizard wearing a Forest Gump t-shirt and enjoying a beer during his holiday. He took a holiday after announcing that he would leave the Austrian team after 2024.
In May 2024, the defending world champions announced that Newey would leave the F1 team. They stated that he would be stepping away from F1 operations to focus more on developing their first supercar, the RB17. Following that, he would depart from the Red Bull family altogether.
Several rumors emerged about many F1 teams approaching the aero wizard for his services. However, nothing has been confirmed about Newey's future in F1, or in motorsport in general.
Recently, his wife posted a picture of Newey enjoying a holiday at the Chewton Glen Hotel in New Milton. The Red Bull senior was seen beaming in the image while holding a beer. He was seen wearing a Forest Gump t-shirt, which is a famous film. The t-shirt had a famous quote from the movie, where Forest Gump says:
"I'm pretty tired...I think I'll go home now."
Amanda posted the picture on her official X account and captioned that Newey said he was tired and wanted a holiday. She thanked the hotel and also added that the holiday and the beer were fully paid for.
"Adrian told you that he was tired and needed a holiday. Thank you @chewtonglen. *fully paid for, including the beer," Amanda wrote.
Red Bull aero wizard's response to Lewis Hamilton's eagerness to work with him
After Red Bull announced that Adrian Newey would leave the team in 2025, many rumors surfaced that he could join Ferrari and work alongside Lewis Hamilton.
The seven-time world champion himself addressed the possibility of Newey joining the Italian team. He stated that it would be an honor to work with the aero wizard. Speaking in the Miami GP press conference, Hamilton said:
"Well, I mean, Adrian's known for … He's got such a great history, track record. And, you know, he's obviously just done an amazing job through his career in engaging with teams and the knowledge that he has. And I think he would be an amazing addition."
Replying to Hamilton's comments on Sky Sports, Newey stated that though he appreciates the Brit's eagerness to work together, he would like to take a break from day-to-day work and wait before he decides on his future.
"It's very kind of Lewis to say that. I'm very flattered. At the moment, it's just take a bit of a break and see what happens next," Newey said.
Adrian Newey arrived at Red Bull in 2006 and helped them win six constructors' championships and seven drivers' championships.
