Alpine sign Indian F1 aspirant Kush Maini in their driver’s academy after an impressive rookie F2 campaign

Indian F2 driver Kush Maini has joined Alpine F1 team's academy and will race for the French outfit from next season.

Maini, who hails from Bengaluru, is currently racing for Campos in the junior category and has impressed everyone with his guile and skill behind the wheel in the 2023 F2 season. He currently sits just outside the top 10 in the championship standings, having secured 11-point scoring finishes across the season.

As per Alpine's official website, Maini in his official statement claimed that he was "super excited" to join the French manufacturer in his hopes of making it to the pinnacle of motorsport in the future. He said:

“I am super excited to be joining the Alpine Academy. It’s a dream come true to be associated with a team like BWT Alpine F1 Team, where I can learn and grow to hopefully one day be ready to take the step into Formula 1. A massive thank you to the team for believing in me and giving me this opportunity.”

Interim Sporting Director Julian Rouse welcomed the Indian driver into the fold and added:

“We are happy to welcome Kush into the Alpine Academy. He is a young talent who we believe has strong potential and will be a great asset to our driver development program. The Academy will enter its ninth year in 2024 and currently features nine drivers of eight nationalities, spanning four different series from FIA Formula 2 through to European Karting."
"The continual expansion of the Academy’s talent pool runs in parallel to the expansion of our facilities at Enstone with the development of our new state-of-the-art training and testing facilities, the AHPC, underway.”

Maini joins the likes of Jack Doohan and Victor Martins in the F2 stable for the team French team.


Esteban Ocon hopeful that new investors will help take Alpine forward

Alpine have added many new investors from the world of entertainment, business, and sports in its efforts to generate more revenue.

As per F1.com, Esteban Ocon said that having new investors was exciting news for the team. He said:

“It means a lot, you know, especially seeing these champions joining the team. Yeah, it does a lot. As I said, it shows that people trust us, people believe in the project that we have, and they believe we can achieve great things together."
