Alpine F1 advisor Flavio Briatore recently outlined the timeline and goals for the team moving forward. He aims for the French team to bag podiums and race wins in 2026 and championships in 2027.

Alpine had a mediocre year in 2024, where they finished sixth in the constructors championship with 65 points. They started the season on the back foot since they created a brand-new car based on a new concept. As the season progressed, they picked themselves up but only managed to fight in the midfield with teams like Aston Martin and Haas.

While the road to becoming one of the top teams in F1 is long for the French team, their newly appointed advisor, Flavio Briatore, feels that it can be achieved soon. Speaking to Le Parisien, he stated that the team's goals are clear and that they are aiming to become a top team by 2026 and challenge for championships in 2027. He sets the goal of defeating Aston Martin in 2025 and finishing P5 in the standings.

"Today, our goals are clear: always do better. In 2024, we finished 6th. This is excellent news because it brings us much more money than a 9th place. Next season, we must finish 5th in the constructors' standings ahead of Aston Martin. In 2026, we must aim for podiums and victories. And in 2027, the title," Briatore said.

Briatore further claimed that the team has worked hard to make their 2025 F1 car almost half a second faster than their 2024 machine. He also said that the team will have a dedicated department next year to work solely on the 2026 F1 car according to the new technical regulations.

"For the moment, we are on the right track. We have not only corrected the errors for 2024, we have already developed the single-seater for 2025. We have improved the car by almost half a second per lap. For the future, we have a working group entirely dedicated to the 2026 single-seater with the future changes to the regulations. The employees are finally starting to believe in our project: to compete in the World Championship in three years," he added.

Flavio Briatore returned to Alpine 14 years after he resigned from Renault due to the 'Crashgate' scandal in the 2008 F1 season. He arrives on the team as a senior advisor.

Flavio Briatore points out the changes he made after arriving at Alpine

Flavio Briatore recently talked about how he uplifted Alpine in the 2024 F1 season after his arrival. Speaking to Le Parisien, he stated that when he joined the team in June, they only had two points in the championship.

He added that he started to implement his methods to help the team move forward. Briatore also mentioned how they brought in Oliver Oakes, a new team principal.

"I arrived in June. We had two points in the championship. I started to implement the same thing I did at Benetton thirty years ago, that's all. F1 has improved in the meantime, we go to different countries, the market has grown. But the competition between the teams remains the same. Nothing has changed. We focused again on team spirit. We changed team principal with Oliver Oakes," Briatore said.

Alpine will retain Pierre Gasly and bring in their junior driver, Jack Doohan for the 2025 F1 season.
