Aston Martin reserve driver Felipe Drugovich has refuted Fernando Alonso's 'bad guy' image often portrayed by the media.

The Spaniard has been notoriously termed toxic in the past by a few members of the paddock. Multiple team principals and owners including Christian Horner had chosen not to pursue him even when he was available because of the impact he has on the team.

The Aston Martin reserve however does not think this way. Talking about Fernando Alonso, Drugovich only had complimentary things to say as the Brazilian commended the Spaniard for what he's achieved in F1 even at this advanced age.

Talking about Fernando Alonso and his interactions with him Felipe Drugovich exclusively told Total-Motorsport that the Spaniard had been a great addition to the team. Alonso had been very nice to him and his overall nature led to Drugovich refuting the 'bad guy' image the Spaniard commands sometimes. He said,

“He’s a really cool guy. I really like him. He’s a great character and amazing. I just have such big respect for him, even more now. I see how hard he works even at 41 years old and pushing like he’s just 20 years old. So it’s impressive to see that. People talk about him being the bad guy and stuff like that but he’s really cool guy and is really nice with me.”

Fernando Alonso on the legacy he wants to leave behind

Fernando Alonso recently revealed that he wanted to leave behind a legacy where he was remembered as a driver who always performed at a very high level even at his advanced age.

Talking to La Gazzetta, the Spaniard talked about the legacy he wanted to leave behind as he said,

“The legacy I will leave will be the love for this sport, so great that I continue to practice it for many years, remaining at a very high level. It was one of the goals I set for myself when I returned."

He added,

"Other dreams? I want to have a family. This is the biggest dream of my life. I haven't gotten there yet due to my lifestyle. It's something that, when I stop running, I'll find happiness."

Alonso's future is going to be an interesting debate as the driver has shown no signs of slowing down. At the same time, it's hard to deny that father time catches up with everyone. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the Spaniard as he continues to defy expectations.
