It is reported that the Aston Martin F1 team will announce the signing of aero wizard Adrian Newey in September later this year. The future of the former Red Bull Chief Technical Officer has been a hot topic of discussion in motorsport considering his illustrious career.

It was announced ahead of the Miami GP that the 65-year-old would be leaving the Austrian team after 19 years and leading it to seven Drivers' and six Constructors' Championships.

Ferrari, Aston Martin and McLaren were in the running to sign Newey after his Red Bull exit. Despite some reports linking him to a move to Maranello to join Lewis Hamilton for the 2025 season, the deal between the two iconic names in F1 never materialized.

It is now being reported by the Italian publication Autosprint that Aston Martin owner Lawrence Stroll has offered Newey a contract for four years and $100 million to get him to join the Silverstone-based team in its bid to become a World Champion.

It is rumored that the aerodynamicist may earn around $26 million per season at the team and could announce his arrival in September before joining in early 2025 after serving his gardening leave.

Aston Martin team boss gives his take on the team targeting Adrian Newey

Aston Martin team principal Mike Krack stated that it is 'open-minded' in its approach amid a recruitment drive for technical personnel.

As per F1.com, Krack gave a diplomatic response to questions about Aston Martin's links to Adrian Newey and said:

“We're still in a period of growth – but I think we have to be open-minded and dynamic, in terms of personnel as well as car development. This isn't a sport that rewards consolidation. Obviously, that has to be constructed around a stable core.
"We've announced several new members of the senior management team over the last few months, and each time someone new arrives, I'm asked the question, 'Is that the last piece in the puzzle?' It isn't. It never is. We'll continue to look at recruitment because perhaps there's somebody else out there that's going to make us better."

The German further revealed the reason for a team to hire people from outside, adding:

“You look outside because the organisation has to stay dynamic, has to be open to new perspectives, but we need to give the team that's already here the opportunity to mature, to express itself, to naturally migrate to areas of greater responsibility.”

Neither the British team nor Newey nor his manager Eddie Jordan have confirmed the reports of the aero wizard joining Aston Martin for the 2025 season, as they have consistently stated that the 65-year-old has been enjoying his time away from the sport and will make a decision about his future in due time.
