Karun Chandhok gives his take on Max Verstappen's clash

Former F1 driver and pundit Karun Chandhok said that he believes that Max Verstappen wasn't going to alter his driving style after his collision with Lando Norris during the Austrian GP last weekend. The three-time world champion and the McLaren driver got into a tangle at the Red Bull Ring on Sunday, June 30th, when they both collided on lap 64 while battling for the lead, which resulted in both of them getting their tires punctured.

The Dutch driver was given the lion's share of the blame and was given a 10-second penalty by the stewards for moving under braking and causing the collision.

Chandhok, while giving examples of previous incidents at Turn 3 at the Red Bull Ring on X, believed that Lando Norris could have moved a bit more and used the curb to avoid contact with Max Verstappen.

However, a fan named Rob Myers wasn't happy with the Sky Sports F1 pundit's analysis and questioned:

"Max is required to leave space. Why is it that everyone else has to adjust their approach to race Max instead of Max being properly punished for dirty driving and being forced to change HIS approach?"

To which the former Indian driver calmly replied:

"Because life isn’t fair Rob and as much as you want Max to change, it isn’t happening. As a title contender, you have to weigh up the risk/ reward. Ultimately, Lando lost more than Max."

Max Verstappen previews the British GP this weekend

Red Bull driver Max Verstappen stated that he was looking forward to making the people working at Milton-Keynes 'proud' this weekend as it is a home race for the team.

As per PitPass, the 26-year-old acknowledged that the race in Austria didn't pan out the way they had expected and said:

"It is another home race for the team, so we want to make everyone at home back in the factory proud this weekend. Austria ended up not being the result that we were hoping for and there were a lot of things to take away from the race that I and the team can really analyze and work to improve on.
"There were some mistakes in the race that really cost us. However, we have to look at the good moments that we had throughout the weekend, including winning the Sprint and being on the pole twice." he added.

Despite the collision, both Red Bull and Max Verstappen were able to extend the gap over McLaren and Lando Norris respectively, in the Constructors' and Drivers' Championship.

Verstappen is currently 81 points ahead of Norris, who is in P2 with 156 points as compared to the former's 237, while Red Bull are currently 87 points ahead of McLaren, who are P3 in the standings behind them and Ferrari.
