F1 fans have reacted to Max Verstappen's post about the iRacing charity race, which came around the same time the Netherlands football team lost to England in the 2024 UEFA Euros semi-finals. Many pointed out the three-time world champion posted about the eSports event right after his country's football team was eliminated from the Euro tournament.
The semi-final match between Netherlands and England was a gripping watch. In the seventh minute of the match, Xavi Simons scored for the Netherlands with a screamer. However, England's Harry Kane scored a penalty in the 18th minute after he was fouled inside the box.
The scoreline was equal for the majority of the match before Ollie Watkins scored the winning goal for England right on 90 minutes.
A few minutes after the match ended, Verstappen reposted iRacing's official X account, urging his fans to watch the MS Society's charity race.
While this was completely unrelated to the Netherlands and England Euro semi-final football match, many fans commented on the timing of Verstappen's post in relation to the match. They talked about how the Netherlands was defeated and pointed out the odd timing of the post.
"Bro your country just cooked," one fan wrote.
"Amazing timing," another chimed in.
"Babes the timing?" someone echoed.
Meanwhile, one fan opined that Verstappen would defeat every driver in the game's lobby. Some others sent heartwarming messages and hoped the Red Bull driver was fine after his country was knocked out of the 2024 UEFA Euros.
"Ohhhh lord bro is about to cook the entire lobby," a follower wrote.
"Sorry your Sunday evenings been ruined," one consoled.
Max Verstappen says he is "happy" despite failing to win the British GP
Max Verstappen gave his thoughts after losing the race win to Lewis Hamilton in the 2024 F1 British GP.
The three-time world champion had a poor qualifying, but significantly improved his pace in the race, so much so that he was in contention to win. While the Dutchman was on the charge in the latter stages of the race, he was unable to catch the Mercedes driver who took the chequered flag at Silverstone.
In the post-race interview, Verstappen praised his team for making the right pitstop calls, which helped him bag second place.
"At the end, the call from the team to be on the hard tyre instead of the soft was definitely helping me out. That's why we also finished second today. It could have been a lot worse but with making the right calls we still got onto the podium and I'm of course very happy with that," Verstappen said.
After the British GP, Max Verstappen continues to lead the drivers' championship table with 255 points, while Lewis Hamilton is in eighth place with 110 points.
