Red Bull found themselves amidst a new problem in Nevada after they brought in the wrong rear wing for the 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix. As a result, the Austrian team experienced a massive performance deficit, where Max Verstappen ended up in P17 in FP2. As the news surfaced on social media, fans shared their reactions online.
Verstappen suffered from a massive lack of pace in Las Vegas, and it was prolific in FP2. Besides the Dutchman with a poor show, his teammate Sergio Perez ended up in P19. The GPS data from Red Bull showed that they lost nearly 7 km/h on straights due to the wrong rear wing.
In a track like this, which is a high-speed circuit, the effects of the wrong rear wings have been magnanimous. While the FP2 was one such occasion, the Qualifying on Saturday and then the race on Sunday could bring more misery for the Milton-Keynes-based outfit. It was reported that the Red Bull drivers lost about six-tenths of a second per lap to competitors on straights.
