Carlos Sainz's manager Carlos Onoro rubbed salt into Lando Norris' wounds at the Hungarian GP. Onoro, who is a Spanish national, wrote down the 2024 UEFA Euro final scoreline on the British driver's car spot sign at the Hungaroring on Thursday.

England and Spain met in the Euro 2024 final in Berlin last Sunday. A dramatic late winner from Mikel Oyarzabal helped La Roja stop The Three Lions and clinch their fourth European Championship.

"2-1, VIVA ESPANA [Long Live Spain]," Onoro wrote under McLaren F1 Team driver Lando Norris' spot sign.

Norris is a huge football fan and was at the Olympiastadion in Berlin to cheer for the England team at the Euro 2024 final.

Mercedes' George Russell was also at the stadium along with his girlfriend Carmen Montero Mundt. Interestingly, the match between Spain and England had high stakes in F1 as well.

Fernando Alonso and Sainz were rooting for La Roja, while Norris, Russell, Lewis Hamilton, and Oliver Bearman supported England. The match left a sour taste in Hamilton's mouth. So much so, that he unfollowed the England team's official Instagram account, days after following it.

While Lando Norris did not have much choice but to digest the Euro 2024 dig from his former teammate's camp (Carlos Sainz and Norris raced together at McLaren from 2019 to 2020, and were popularly known as Carlando), he will look to respond on the race track this weekend.

However, in order to do that, the British driver will need a wholehearted effort from McLaren. Despite having one of the fastest cars at Silverstone, Norris finished in P3 due to poor strategy from his team. According to Bernie Collins, the former Aston Martin race strategist, this is something the team needs to take care of.

"I think Mercedes and Red Bull still have the edge in terms of making good decisions consistently as a team,” Collins said, comparing McLaren with Red Bull and Mercedes. “With McLaren and Lando, [the relationship] is a bit more polite. We can’t have that in F1."

McLaren have claimed one solitary victory this season (through Norris in Miami), despite having their fair share of chances. On the other hand, their immediate rivals Ferrari and Mercedes have taken two wins each. McLaren (295 points) are seven points behind Ferrari (302 points) in the Constructors' Championship standings.
