F1 champion Damon Hill has taken a dig at billionaire businessman Elon Musk. Racing fans did not see it coming.
Hill targeted Musk after the American businessman uploaded an AI video on X where Game of Thrones characters are seen having a rave party, along with a question in the caption.
"How will we ever know what’s real?" Elon Musk said.
Hill took to the platform to respond to the tweet.
"If Elon becomes the ruler of the free world (as well he could) it will be like living in one long episode of Game of Thrones, if it isn't already! So not far to go now #Musk #X," Damon Hill said.
Elon Musk has also addressed the current law and order situation in the United Kingdom and pointed at the UK government for its alleged inability to handle the recent civic unrest in the country, something which his AI video may have led fans to assume he was hinting at.
Amid this, Damon Hill's reaction raised multiple eyebrows and brought interest from among the F1 fan community.
"Damon Hill vs Elon Musk was something I didn't have on my bingo card," one said.
"Ain't nothing free about that world," another said.
"I think the answer to everything is to eat more chocolate, Damon," a third fan said.
"You seem pretty jealous and bitter about it too," yet another said.
Here are a few more reactions:
"He already thinks he effectively is," a fan said.
"And yet you're still here slagging him off on HIS social media site," another said.
Damon Hill on Verstappen's title bid: "Max ready to fight every inch"
Damon Hill recently discussed three-time F1 champion Max Verstappen's 2024 title bid. A world champion himself, he said on the "F1 Nation" podcast that he believes the Red Bull star will do everything to defend his title despite the immense pressure from rivals.
"My gut reaction is that it is going to be a tall order to stop Max Verstappen in a Red Bull," Damon Hill said. "I know everyone is catching, but he has shown that he is prepared to fight every inch of the track to keep those victories and he is able to pull results out of the hat."
"He will really have to fight for this championship, so whether they can come up with a little bit more pace for him on the development of the car - I am sure they can - but he is still going to be chased all the way through to the end," Hill added.
Verstappen is currently leading the Drivers' Championship with 277 points. He is ahead of McLaren's Lando Norris and Ferrari's Charles Leclerc by 78 and 100 points, respectively.
