Ricciardo began his Formula 1 career as a test driver for Red Bull Racing in 2009. He debuted on the grid in 2011 with HRT F1 as a replacement for Narain Karthikeyan and went on to drive for Scuderia Toro Rosso for the 2012 and 2013 seasons. Witnessing his performance, Red Bull offered Ricciardo a seat alongside four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel.

After his stint with Red Bull, Ricciardo went on to compete with Renault and McLaren, before returning to the Austrian squad in 2023 as a reserve driver. He was later moved to AlphaTauri (now VCARB) beside Yuki Tsunoda, where he competed until the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix.

Apart from F1, Ricciardo also entered the world of fashion with his designer clothing brand Enchante (rebranded from Ric3). The Australian motorsport icon is set to expand the lineup with a new Motocross-based collection in collaboration with the #96 Honda Supercross rider Lawrence. Ricciardo shared a few pictures with the 2023 champion from a recent Paris Supercross event on Instagram.

"We didn’t know how good a racer he was" - Red Bull team boss Christian Horner on Daniel Ricciardo's driving abilities

Daniel Ricciardo spent five F1 seasons with the reigning Constructors' champion Red Bull Racing. During his time with the Austrian squad, the Australian racer managed to impress the team boss Christian Horner.

During a recent F1 Nation podcast, Horner praised Ricciardo for his driving abilities, calling him one of the 'best drivers' to grace the team.

"He drove some brilliant races for us. I’m not going to name one, I’m going to name a couple. I think that some of the races, if you look at Hungary 2014… Our biggest concern when he came to drive for us was that we knew he was quick, but (we’d) never seen him overtake anybody, so we didn’t know how good a racer he was," Horner said.

"As soon as he got in our car, he just never stopped overtaking people! He was so late on the brakes. If you look at that race from 2014 in Hungary, if you look at his first victory in Montreal, the race he won in China in 2018 I think it was. He was outstanding in that and when his confidence was sky-high… For me, in 2014 he was the best driver on the grid - that was his high point," he added.

Despite his experience and racecraft, Ricciardo was dropped mid-season this year to make way for a younger New Zealand-based Liam Lawson.
