Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc was left raging on his team radio as he finished a disappointing P9 at the end of the 2024 Singapore GP qualifying session on Saturday. The Monegasque driver looked to be on course to fight for pole position alongside McLaren's Lando Norris throughout the weekend but failed to set a timed lap time in Q3.

The 26-year-old was struggling with tire warm-up issues throughout the session and finished almost half a second behind on his Q3 lap, which was eventually deleted for crossing the white lines on Turn 2.

Charles Leclerc was frustrated at the end of the session and let his feelings known on the team radio.

"For f***'s sake. Why were the fronts -10 when I went out of the box? They weren't ready at all."

In his post-race interview, the Ferrari driver reiterated the point of tire temperatures and said:

"The tires weren't ready, not even 50% ready. We got out of the pits with -10 on the fronts, I don't know how that happened, of course it had to happen in Q3. I tried my best to put some temperature into them on my out lap, but it was impossible. We had the potential for P1-2, I'm disappointed."

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc stated that he was not thinking about the main race after qualifying P9 as he was "too disappointed" with his performance on Saturday.

He told the media:

"I don't want to talk about the race, now. I'm too disappointed - we know how important qualifying is on this track, right now I'm just angry, I don't want to think about what can be done starting from P9. We had potential and for some reason we wasted it."

When asked if he could make a comeback in the main race, Leclerc replied:

"P6, P5... if a miracle P3, I don't know."

It was a disastrous session for the Italian team as Carlos Sainz brought out the red flag in the early minutes of Q3 after he crashed in the final corner whilst preparing for a timed lap.

The interruption meant that most of the drivers could only manage one fast lap which resulted in many drivers including Charles Leclerc encountering tire temperature issues. The result could also prove to be a blow for Leclerc in his bid to close down the gap to Lando Norris in his fight for P2 in the championship.
