F1 Miami GP President Tyler Epp claimed that he and the sport were in talks to possibly convert the mid-afternoon race to a night race in the future. The race in Miami has been one of the most popular in attracting huge crowds and celebrities from all walks of life, ever since its introduction in 2022 to the F1 calendar.

The sport has promoted the Miami GP as one of the event races of the season alongside Monaco and Las Vegas in the past few years. However, despite the time and money spent on the weekend, the races have generated quite a mixed response thus far from the fans of the sport.

Speaking with Autoweek, Epp reported that they would not be doing a night race next year but were discussing it.

“The other piece is the impact on the community, and making sure we’re aware and cognizant of the impact it has, moving the race back to a twilight or an evening race, and how that impacts the community of Miami Gardens, and making sure we’re ahead of that," he said.
“We’re just at the beginning stages of looking at that optionality, we’ll see where we land on it, 2025 will be late afternoon, as we always are, Eastern Time. We do need to make sure that all the consequences (of a night race) are planned ahead for.”

Currently, the sport has Jeddah, Singapore, and Las Vegas as the official night races with Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, and Qatar being the evening-to-twilight races on the calendar.

Miami GP organizer gives his take on the track hosting Sprint races

Miami GP President Tyler Epp stated that he was wary of hosting Sprint races before the 2024 season but admitted that the addition was a positive one for him and the event and further committed to hosting it.

“I will admit I was very wary of the sprint race and the impact it’d have,” Epp said. “It was a positive for us, our single-day attendance was up on Saturday, and the feedback was (that it was) directly because of the sprint race. You couple the sprint race with quali for the Grand Prix, it’s positive.
“I think we’re committed for the next two years with F1 to run the sprint, we’re very happy with that to this point. Where we go from there, I don’t know.”

Miami GP has a contract with F1 until the 2032 season and will remain one of three races in the USA for the coming years alongside Las Vegas and Austin, positioned to be a more casual affair than its counterparts.
