Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur hopes for better performance in the future as the team is attempting to fix a major fault in their car. The Prancing Horse has been losing pace recently after their bouncing issues reappeared.
The Italian outfit was close to being the fastest car on the grid early in the season. However, Ferrari's performance has taken quite a hit since the Monaco GP. Both McLaren and Mercedes have outpaced Ferrari in races. A major issue with the SF24 in the recent races has been the car's uncontrolled bouncing.
To combat with this issue, Ferrari are forced to reduce the downforce, which compromises their corners, making them slower overall. Team principal Frederic Vasseur expressed his concerns regarding the issue.
"Fixing the bouncing is a step in performance, so for sure we are pushing like hell to bring something and we will do it as soon as possible," he told Motorsport.com.
"I think it's quite impossible to simulate the bouncing because you can see that from session to session when the wind changes direction or whatever, that the bouncing can appear or disappear, that it's really marginal. We are all really on the edge of this."
He added that the team is "pushed" because of the better performance they can get with a little more downforce on some of the tracks.
"We have some metrics to imagine if we'll be in a better shape or not, but at the end of the day we are also pushed by the performance that we could gain with a bit more downforce sometimes."
Ferrari have a little less than half a season remaining before they can fix this issue, and all eyes will be on them as they get ready to welcome Lewis Hamilton to the team next season. The latter has already managed to pull in two victories this season with Mercedes, which was declared to be an extremely non-competitive car earlier in the season.
Given the fact that Mercedes were able to positively develop their car so well in the span of a few races, Hamilton might expect a similar pace from Ferrari in 2025. Despite their current performance, Vassuer feels Hamilton's addition to the team would be a positive for the team.

Lewis Hamilton is set to replace Carlos Sainz at the Maranello-based outfit in the next F1 season. The latter will be making his way to Williams, partnering Alex Albon in the team.
With Hamilton and Leclerc battling for the team, Fred Vasseur believes that it will be a positive addition. He told Sky Italia that he is aware of the positive aspects of the 39-year-old joining the team.
"We certainly know the positive aspects of Lewis' arrival, such as his great experience," he told Sky Italia. "Everyone since the beginning of the season has said that Russell is faster than him, but at the moment he is the one who has brought more points to Mercedes. So in terms of efficiency, I think he is a good point of reference."
