Lewis Hamilton celebrated his 40th birthday today (January 7th), and amongst the wishes the British driver received, one came from his new team for the 2025 season. Ferrari wished the seven-time world champion for his special day on Instagram through a reel of a birthday cake.

Hamilton was announced to be joining Ferrari at the beginning of last year, before the 2024 F1 season began. He recently completed his final season with his old team Mercedes, and is scheduled to start driving in the Italian team's car towards the end of this month at the Fiorano Circuit for his first testing session.

Hamilton will reportedly be driving either the 2022 or 2023 car for testing. His first time driving the 2025 Ferrari car will be in Bahrain during the pre-season testing session at the end of February, about a year after the announcement. The driver will join Charles Leclerc who will commence his sixth season with Ferrari.

The scarlet team has begun welcoming the Briton on Instagram through a series of posts that started in the New Year, marking Hamilton's official entry into the team. The reel they shared for his birthday featured a red birthday cake on a red plate placed on a table with a single candle and the words "Auguri Lewis" on the cake, which means Best Wishes in Italian. The post has garnered over 250k likes in 5 hours with fans also wishing the driver in the comments.

The team shared the post with the caption:

"Happy Birthday, @lewishamilton"

Hamilton's first race dressed in red will be in Melbourne, Australia in March.

Lewis Hamilton's former team also shared birthday wishes

Lewis Hamilton joined the Brackley-based Mercedes team in 2013, replacing the other seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher. The relationship between Hamilton and the team ended in 2024, with Mercedes replacing Hamilton with the Italian driver Kimi Antonelli. Even though their partnership is now over, Mercedes also relayed their wishes to the driver for his birthday.

Mercedes wished their former driver on social media, sharing a picture of Hamilton kissing his trophy from his Silverstone win for the team in 2024, one of his last two wins with the British team. The team shared the photo on Instagram along with a 'happy birthday' caption in Italian:

"Buon compleanno @lewishamilton"

During their time together, Hamilton scored 84 race wins, 78 pole positions, 153 podiums, eight constructors’ titles, and six of his seven drivers' championships.

Lewis Hamilton finished his final season with Mercedes scoring 223 points and in seventh place in the drivers' standings.
