Carlos Sainz reportedly broke a pre-race agreement with Charles Leclerc during the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona. Leclerc, following the race, was furious over it, and so were the F1 fans, who did not take the offense lightly.

Formula 1 was in Spain for the 10th race of the season. Max Verstappen continued his streak of Spanish GP wins with his third consecutive victory. Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton rounded off the podium.

Sainz and Leclerc came home in P6 and P5 positions, respectively. While Ferrari claimed double points, thanks to the driver duo, Leclerc wasn't particularly happy with how things went down for him during the race.

In the post-race conference, the Monegasque shared, "I understand it's his home race and a very important moment of his career, so I guess he wanted to do something spectacular but I probably wasn't the right person to do that with."

Admittedly, Sainz had a feisty wheel-to-wheel tussle with Leclerc in Lap 3 of 66 for P5, where the Spaniard's evasive action damaged Leclerc's front wing. The loss of bodywork allegedly hampered the Monegasque's race from there on.

Moreover, the action on track also breached their pre-race agreement, as revealed by Leclerc. He said, "It wasn't the moment to fight. After the briefing, we agreed we had to save the tyres. I did but Sainz didn't.”

Fans on social media reacted to it as Charles Leclerc shared his thoughts on the on-track tussle.

A fan wrote, "And he is right !! god, I cannot wait until the day that crybaby leaves our team. at the end of the day, Charles gives it all and the other one is still jobless."
"He’s such a cry baby. Sainz was so supportive of him in Monaco, but god forbid Leclerc do the same for him," wrote another fan, but surprisingly in favor of Sainz.
"All these drivers have become such princesses. They’re all bubble-wrapped. F1 isn’t what it used to be," another fan chimed in, slamming both drivers.
"Charles woke up and chose violence," wrote another fan as he supported Leclerc's point.
"Sainz slowly becoming Ocon," another fan wrote following their intra-team rivalry.
Another fan wrote, "Charles could have got p4 if he didn’t have a damaged wing."

Carlos Sainz did not take Charles Leclerc's complaint against him all too well. The Spanish driver hit back at his teammate at the post-race conference and stated that the Monegasque complained "too many times" after the race.

The Madrid-born driver stated, "Charles wasn't happy with me? For me it was clear, we had a new soft, and we had to attack. I don't know what happened to him in the first lap, but I couldn't stay behind him all my life. I don't know what he's complaining about this time.”

After Charles Leclerc's P5 at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, he dropped down to P3 in the drivers' championship as he lost the position to Lando Norris. Carlos Sainz remained in P4.
