"He can get the drinks and that kind of thing" - Lando Norris picks Max Verstappen as part of his golfing dream team

Lando Norris recently picked Max Verstappen for a "golfing dream team". He joked that the three-time world champion could take care of the drinks and drive the golf kart around the field.

During an exclusive interview with F1.com, the McLaren driver was asked which three drivers he would pick for a golfing tournament. Norris picked Ferrari's Carlos Sainz, Red Bull's Verstappen, and Aston Martin's Lance Stroll.

The British driver humorously said Verstappen would not be allowed to hold a golf club and could take care of the drinks and drive the golf kart.

"I'll have Max, just for the vibe. He won't be allowed to hold a golf club or anything. He can get the drinks and that kind of thing. Max can drive the golf buggy, kind of caddy and do that kind of thing," Norris said.

In the interview, he also mentioned Sainz and Stroll were good at golfing.

"I think I'll have Carlos. I think Lance is pretty good at golf, similar to Carlos almost. So I would [those two] for a competition," he added.

At the start of the 2024 F1 season, Verstappen dominated the field and won most of the races. As the season progressed, however, other drivers and teams began to gain ground on the reigning world champion. The competition at the top became tight and Red Bull struggled to win races.

McLaren's Norris has been one of the fastest drivers on the grid and is chasing Verstappen in the drivers' championship table. While Verstappen still leads the table with 303 points, Norris is right behind the Dutchman with 241 points.

Lando Norris feels that Max Verstappen is one of his closest friends on the grid

Lando Norris recently talked about which driver he is closest to in the paddock. Speaking to F1.com, the two-time race winner shared that though he has worked closely with Carlos Sainz, current title rival Max Verstappen is one of his closest friends. Norris added he and Verstappen grew up together.

"I mean, I’ve worked and probably been closest to Carlos, but for people that I’ve not worked with, I’m probably closest to Max, I would say. Just because we kind of grew up together-ish, we knew of each other many, many years ago, 2012, 2013.

"I’ve never actually worked with Max or been in the same team or anything like that, but I’ve always had a good, respectful relationship with Max."

Off the track, both Norris and Verstappen are good friends and are often seen together at parties and on vacation. They frequently drive together on simulators in virtual racing games as well.
