F1 fans reacted to Lewis Hamilton's nonchalant behavior after a poor result in the 2024 F1 Brazilian GP's sprint qualifying. The seven-time world champion managed to secure P11 for Saturday's sprint race.
Right from the start of the sprint qualifying on Friday, Hamilton did not look the fastest. He finished SQ1 in P13, below most drivers from top teams and three places down from his teammate, George Russell. In SQ2, Lewis Hamilton was knocked out of the qualifying session as he was unable to place himself in the top 10. In the final stages, he tried to clock a fast lap but was not as nearly as quick.
After the sprint qualifying session, the Mercedes star was asked what his thoughts were about Mercedes' long-run pace and whether he could pull himself up in a sprint race or the Grand Prix. To this, the Brit replied that he was not too bothered about the pace improvement and simply answered that he would try to move up in the sprint race and in the Grand Prix qualifying.
“It is what it is. It’ll be what it’ll be. I’m not really massive bothered if I’m honest. If I can move forwards in the Sprint, great. I’ll try again in Qualifying two, make some changes to the car and see what we can do.”
Hamilton's response led many F1 fans to express the opinion of the seven-time world champion being mentally checked out of the 2024 F1 season. People discussed how Hamilton's mind had already reached Maranello and he had started focusing on how to work with Ferrari.
Before the 2024 F1 season began, Ferrari announced that Lewis Hamilton would be joining them in 2025 as their permanent driver. Since Hamilton's name was synonymous with Mercedes, this move was quite shocking for the entire motorsport community. He will soon start working with the Italian team as soon as 2024 comes to an end.
"He's completely checked out with this season he's ready for Ferrari," one fan wrote.
"His mind is in Marinello and i don't blame him. Been screwed all season," another added.
One fan boldly claimed that Mercedes might not give Lewis Hamilton a good car in the remaining races in the 2024 F1 season.
"Sounds like my guy has checked out with this team n I can't blame him its just useless to think they will give him a good car in the remaining races it will probably be worse n he has accepted it gracefully," one follower said.
"He’s done with Mercedes," one netizen mentioned.
Lewis Hamilton on his poor sprint qualifying result at the Brazilian GP

Speaking to F1.com, he said how bad it was for him out on the track, but he also mentioned that he has struggled in most of the qualifying sessions this year. While speaking about his performance, however, he was smiling and had a nonchalant reaction towards the pace of the car and the rest of the weekend. Hamilton said:
"Pretty bad, but it's same as every qualifying for me so, not really happy about it, but I just did not have any confidence in the car. Big struggle for me."
In the drivers' championship table, Lewis Hamilton is currently in sixth place with 189 points, while his teammate George Russell is seventh with 177 points.
