F1 fans recently reacted to Ralf Schumacher's claim that the Singapore GP will be Daniel Ricciardo's last race with RB. He further claims that their reserve driver, Liam Lawson, would take the reigns of the car after Singapore.
Ever since Ricciardo joined AlphaTauri in 2023 by replacing a struggling Nyck de Vries, he has been facing difficulties performing as well. He only scored six points in 2023. In 2024, the Honey Badger stands in 14th place with only 12 points after the Azerbaijan GP.
For several months now, rumors about Ricciardo being replaced have been going on. The driver shuffle at the Red Bull camp has always been a hot topic, ever since Sergio Perez and Ricciardo's dip in performances.
Speaking to Sky Sports, former F1 driver Ralf Schumacher claimed that Ricciardo will soon be replaced by Liam Lawson mid-season itself.
One fan strongly criticized Daniel Ricciardo, stating that the Aussie is embarrassing himself and his fans by continuing to race. Another made a light joke that F1 fans would not witness Ricciardo riding a horse in the paddock during the US GP, as he has previously done.
Another fan talked about whether Ricciardo was done with F1 or whether he could join Sauber to continue his journey. As of now, Sauber already has Nico Hulkenberg and Ferrari protege, Oliver Bearman, locked for the 2025 F1 season.
"He’s only embarrassed himself & His fans," one fan wrote.
"You mean we might not have Daniel Ricciardo on a horse in Austin, Texas?" another joked.
"Yeah, he’s done. No place for him in F1. Maybe Sauber?" a follower wondered.
Some fans were unimpressed with Ralf Schumacher's claim that Ricciardo would be removed from RB after the Singapore GP. They criticized the German's claims.
"Sure Ralf," a fan wrote.
"Nobody asked, Ralf. Keep walking," another added.
Ralf Schumacher on RB staying true to their motto of promoting younger drivers by reportedly replacing Daniel Ricciardo
While claiming that Daniel Ricciardo would be replaced by Liam Lawson after the Singapore GP, Ralf Schumacher talked about how RB's aim has always been to promote younger drivers and nurture them into talented F1 racers. He said that Lawson's arrival in the team makes sense since it fulfills their motto.
Yes, Red Bull Racing is a junior team, that's what the management has always said and supported again: 'We will rely on our young drivers', and that's why it makes sense," Schumacher said.
The former F1 driver also added that he was disappointed to see Ricciardo leave and praised his friendly and positive persona that brightened up the paddock.
"It's a shame for Daniel because we'll be missing a driver who is super friendly, always has a smile and is a joy to meet in the paddock," he added.
As of now, there has been no official confirmation from RB that they would replace Daniel Ricciardo after the Singapore GP, which is held on September 22.
