Lewis Hamilton once jokingly said that his dad, Anthony Hamilton, perceives himself as a better driver than the seven-time world champion. He added that, given an opportunity, his father would love to be a professional racing driver in F1.

Hamilton is renowned as one of the greatest F1 drivers by his fans, which is largely backed by statistics. The 39-year-old holds seven world championships, 105 race victories, 202 podiums and 104 pole positions across 356 race starts. During his stint with Mercedes, the team won 8 Constructors' titles, resulting in a sensational era of dominance.

However, despite his heroics on the track, Hamilton's dad thought he was a better driver in comparison. In his interview with Top Gear recorded on August 28, 2014, the British driver elaborated on his relationship with his dad, Anthony Hamilton.

In the interview, host Jeremy Clarkson asked [2:56 onwards]:

"Your dad's been very much a part of the build-up of your career. Does he still tell you how to drive, like all dads do?"

To his, Lewis Hamilton replied:

"Yeah, if we're on the road, he truly believes he's a better driver than me. If he'd had the opportunity, he'd be in Formula."

Anthony Hamilton played a huge role in shaping his son's racing career. After the British driver's famous victory at the 2024 British Grand Prix, where he snapped his career's longest winless streak, Lewis broke down in his dad's arms. Speaking to Sky F1 after the race, Anthony said:

"You always want the best for your kids and for your family, and I just wanted to be there for Lewis. It was nice to be there at the right time because he had a lot of emotion to let loose, and I'm the only guy I'm sure that he'd be able to do that with, so it was great to be there."

Hamilton went on to win another race in Belgium after George Russell was disqualified over technical infringements.

Seven-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton is reportedly in talks with KTM to buy a stake in its MotoGP team. According to KTM's Motorsports Director, Pit Beirer, the team apparently held a meeting with Hamilton's team to negotiate terms.

Marca further reported that the KTM MotoGP team is facing a financial crunch and reportedly invited external investors to keep the operations afloat.

"I can only say that we've had very interesting discussions with his management. It's no secret that Lewis Hamilton is interested in the MotoGP and is thinking about having his own team. There are concrete discussions here, as well," Beirer said.

Hamilton previously bought a stake in the NFL team, the Denver Broncos, to become a part owner.
