Max Verstappen claimed his fourth Formula One World Championship title on Sunday after the Vegas Grand Prix, following which Daniel Suarez congratulated him. The Mexican driver shared a hilarious congratulatory post on his X account.
Suarez and his long-time girlfriend Julia Piquet tied the knot in the summer of this year. Julia is the daughter of Brazilian racer and Formula One champion Nelson Piquet. Notably, F1 driver Max Verstappen has been dating Nelson Piquet's second daughter, Kelly, since 2021. As such, Suarez and Verstappen might soon turn into family if Verstappen and Kelly get engaged.
"Congratulations mate!! 🏆🏆🏆🏆 Here’s to many more Mario Kart games and busting our 🍑 playing soap soccer 🤣," wrote Daniel Saurez.
The Trackhouse racing driver shared a picture of him with Versterappan along with two short clips. In one of the clips, the duo can be seen enjoying their summer together, sliding in the garden and playing soccer with their friends. The second clip seems to be from Christmas, in which both drivers were seen playing Mario Kart.
Despite not becoming a champion this year, Daniel Saurez had a solid season, finishing 12th in the standings with one win and nine top-ten finishes.
Daniel Suarez promised to work hard for the 2025 season after this year's playoff exit
Trackhouse Racing driver Daniel Suarez was eliminated from the playoff race after the final race of the round of 12. He ran his eighth season in the Cup Series and fourth with Chevrolet. After getting eliminated, Saurez penned a heartfelt message to his fans, emphasizing that he would keep working hard.
The #99 Chevy driver secured his place in the playoffs courtesy of his win at the Atlanta Motor Speedway in February 2024. Despite his best efforts, his playoff journey ended at the Charlotte Roval race after a brake failure forced him off the track.
"I’m disappointed we didn’t make the round of 8, but I think I’m more disappointed that we worked so hard leading up to the Roval and didn’t have anything to show for it. Around Lap 8-10 in the race I knew something was different with my brakes, I didn’t have the balance and stopping power that I had on Saturday, eventually in stage #2 I lost brakes completely," wrote Daniel Suarez.
In the final stage of the race, the #99 driver reported some fluid damage but continued to race, finishing in 30th place. In the process, he became the third-slowest car on the track.
"After checking the car today at the shop a brake line got loose and eventually leaked enough to lose all the brake fluid… No bueno. I want to thank our great partner@ChoiceHotels and looking forward to closing off the season strong. We’ll keep working hard I can promise you that," he added.
In 2025, Daniel Suarez will race alongside #1 driver Ross Chastain and newcomer Shane van Gisbergen. Notably, the team expanded to a three-car operation by acquiring a car from Stewart-Haas Racing.
