Red Bull driver Max Verstappen cracked a joke about former US President Donald Trump's recent assassination attempt during a sim racing stream. The three-time F1 world champion is an avid sim racing follower and owns a team called Team Redline. He features in multiple sim races throughout the year with them.

Apart from being one of the best drivers in F1, the Dutchman is also one of the best in the virtual, sim racing world. He often lets his guard down and shows his real self around his Team Redline members.

One such incident happened recently when a Team Redline member claimed he would be calling the Secret Service to his house. To this, Max Verstappen quickly replied sarcastically, saying:

"Hope it’s not the secret service of trump then."

The joke was in reference to the recent assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump during one of his campaign rallies for the upcoming elections. The bullet missed the 77-year-old by a whisker and only hit a part of his ear whilst the Secret Service was late to react on the scene.

Max Verstappen's sim racing activities came under fire during the Hungarian GP. Some claimed that he stayed up late racing on the simulator the night before the race, and it was one of the reasons behind his temperament during the main race. In his column for Speedweek, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko wrote:

“Max Verstappen was rather thin-skinned this weekend, and of course, it didn't take long for criticism to arise - no wonder, given that he spends half the night playing sim racing. I have to say this: In Imola, he didn't go to bed until three o'clock in the morning after a sim racing session - and then won the Grand Prix.
“Max has a different sleep rhythm and he had his seven hours of sleep. His late-night sim race on the Hungarian weekend only came about because a driver in his team canceled. Nevertheless, we have agreed that he will no longer run sim races this late in the future.”

Red Bull team principal gives his take on Max Verstappen's late-night sim racing stint

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner stated that many in the paddock were trying to 'draw conclusions' from Max Versatppen's late-night sim racing stint.

As per Motorsport.com, Horner said:

“I think people draw conclusions, but Max knows what's required and we trust his judgment on that. He knows what it takes to drive a grand prix car to win the Grand Prix and be a world champion.
"And look, as a team, we always work as a team, and whatever discussions of how to improve will always not take place through media.” he added.

Max Verstappen had taken part and won the 24-hour Virtual race at Spa with Team Redline ahead of the Hungarian GP main race last Sunday.
