German drivers Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel are two of the most successful F1 drivers. They paired up at the Race of Champions to win the Nations Cup for six straight years.
Schumacher led the way bringing Germany unprecedented success with seven F1 driver's championships in 1994 and 1995 with Benetton and from 2000 to 2004 with Ferrari. Vettel joined the pinnacle of motorsport as a Red Bull junior the year after his hero retired and went on to dominate the sport with the Austrian outfit from 2010 to 2013, winning 39 times and claiming four successive world championships.
Schumacher and Vettel raced globally together in the annual international Race of Champions and dominated the teams' event. Here's a look at their undefeated run from 2007 to 2012.
Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel's Nations Cup run
2007
The 2007 edition of the Race of Champions was held at the iconic Wembley Stadium in London and saw the debut of Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel at the event. The duo avoided an early exit as they narrowly defeated the USA in the quarterfinals before comfortably ousting England and Finland.
2008
Wembley once again hosted the event with another dominating run from Team Germany as it moved past Ireland and home favorite England in the quarterfinals and semifinals respectively before securing a narrow 2-1 win over the Scandinavian partnership of Tom Kristenson and Mattias Ekstrom.
2009
Schumacher and Vettel blitzed the field in Beijing in the 2009 edition of the Nations Cup winning every round 2-0, surpassing challenges from Australia, China, and Finland and claiming the title for the third time in as many years.
2010
Buoyed by the support from their home fans in Dusseldorf, Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel narrowly avoided an exit in the Group stages as they had a better combined time than the All-Stars team. After a mother run in their semifinal against Benelux, the German duo won the event by the skin of their teeth defeating the Great Britain team.
2011
Returning to Dusseldorf after finishing second in the Group Stages again, the two had a tough outing against Great Britain in the semifinals requiring Vettel to win two consecutive races. However, they made light work of the Scandinavian team in the Final to win the event for a fifth straight time.
2012
The 2012 edition of the Race of Champions was special for the duo given it was Schumacher's last event as a professional driver. He and Vettel signed off on their partnership with a dominant display and won every race in the Nations Cup. They defeated France in the Final to win for the sixth and final time together in consecutive years.
