“I feel really at home with the team”: Carlos Sainz rubbishes rumors of move away from Ferrari

F1 Grand Prix of Miami - Qualifying
Carlos Sainz is loyal to Scuderia Ferarri. But can the team deliver a race winning car for him?

Carlos Sainz has debunked rumors about moving away from Ferrari. He finds it "stupid to talk" about his future as he's contract hasn't ended with Ferrari and wanted to win a title with the prancing horse.

The Spaniard finds it too early to talk about moving teams in the future right now as he's committed to Ferrari and to becoming a World Champion with the team.

In an interview with the-race.com, the Ferrari driver said:

“I feel really at home with the team. There’s a good atmosphere. I know there’s a lot of noise around, but I see the factory myself, and everyone in a good place right now.”

Sainz rubbished rumors about Ferrari's toxic culture and politics. He assures that everyone on the team is happy and in a good place. But he agrees that a positive environment isn't enough to beat the current world champion, Red Bull.

Ferrari are still nowhere close to competing with Red Bull. Charles Leclerc agrees with Carlos and said that Ferrari have met all his expectations but he also concurs that Red Bull are indomitable as of now.

Carlos Sainz wasn't the only one rumored to leave Ferrari

It is quite evident that Ferrari has been going through a rough patch since 2022. They haven't been in a position to compete neck-to-neck with Red Bull because of their flawed racing car. Charles Leclerc was quite frustrated about this as he has dedicated his life to becoming the World Champion.

The media has spun numerous stories about Leclerc leaving Scuderia and signing with Mercedes AMG Petronas as his contract ends this year. The media has also said that the team themselves might drop the driver as he isn't able to bring points to the table. However, Leclerc disparaged all rumors.

To date, neither of the Ferrari drivers has won a grand prix in 2023. Leclerc came P3 in Azerbaijan while Carlos Sainz's best result was P4 at the Bahrain Grand Prix. Carlos Sainz's performance after five races and one Sprint don't live up to Ferrari's expectations. Sainz is presently in fifth place with 44 points. There is a huge gap that Sainz needs to bridge in order to compete with the two-time World Champion Max Verstappen.

With a tricky and difficult car, Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc have been trying their best to at least finish in the top ten.
