Former F1 driver Sebastian Vettel recently talked about how he will not be helping Mick Schumacher in the final stages of the Race of Champions (ROC).
The Race of Champions will be returning in 2025 in Sydney, Australia. Their official website recently confirmed Vettel and Schumacher's entry for the upcoming event. Both the drivers have teamed up together for the 2019, 2022, and 2023 ROC Nations Cup series.
While speaking about the upcoming international racing event, Sebastian Vettel said that he was happy to team up with Michael Schumacher's son one more time for the ROC. He expressed his excitement to race in the Olympic Stadium in Sydney.
"I’m delighted to be coming back to the Race Of Champions and teaming up with Mick again. It will be exciting to race in the former Olympic Stadium in Sydney that looks like it will be a great venue for the Race Of Champions," Vettel said.
The four-time world champion then added that though he will work with Mick Schumacher in the early stages of the tournament, he will not help the youngster in the latter stages, where each driver will go against each other to clinch the top spot in the Race of Champions.
Sebastian Vettel even reminisced how young Schumacher beat him in the 2023 ROC event semifinals stage.
"I will do everything I can to help Germany win another ROC Nations Cup Title with Mick on the Friday evening, but I will not be doing him any favors when we are going for the outright win on the Saturday night, especially as he beat me in the Semifinals of the Individual ROC in Sweden in 2023!"
While Sebastian Vettel dominated F1 in his prime time between 2010 and 2013, Mick Schumacher struggled in the sport. The young German joined the sport with Haas in 2021, but was quickly removed from the team in 2022 after his poor performances. He has been trying to get back in F1 with a new team since but hasn't gotten a seat.
Mick Schumacher on joining forces with Sebastian Vettel for ROC 2025 in Sydney
Mick Schumacher has shared a few words on teaming up with Sebastian Vettel for 2025's Race of Champions tournament.
Speaking to ROC's official website, Michael Schumacher's son admitted that Australia was one of his favorite places and was eager to have fun with Vettel in another ROC event. He recalled how he finished the second ROC individual stage in 2023 and the ROC Nations Cup in Mexico with the four-time F1 champion.
“Australia is one of my favourite places and representing Germany together with Sebastian at ROC Sydney will for sure be big fun. After finishing 2nd in the individual ROC in Sweden in 2023 and in the ROC Nations Cup in ROC Mexico with Seb, the goal this time has to be the overall winners trophy both in the ROC Nations Cup on Friday night and in the individual Race Of Champions on Saturday," Schumacher said.
The Race of Champions Sydney will take place on March 7 and 8, 2025 from 7:30 pm AEDT at Accord Stadium, Sydney Olympic Park.
