Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton was incredibly disappointed at the end of the 2024 Azerbaijan Grand Prix which reflected in his tense team radio at the end of the race. The seven-time world champions started the race from the pit lane after the German team decided to instill a new power unit in the back of his W15 and made some setup changes.

Hamilton had qualified P7 for the main race and could have potentially finished a couple of places above, given Max Verstappen's struggles, but never got the chance. During the opening phase of the race, the 39-year-old struggled to make his way on the field and found himself stuck behind the midfield cars.

During the race, Hamilton even complained to his team about the way he was driving eluding to the balance issues of the car. But in the final few laps in the VSC, he remained silent after saying:

"I'm not even going to say because you know what..."

As per Crash.net, Lewis Hamilton spoke about the balance issues in the race and mentioned that it was 'the worst balance I’ve probably ever had'. He said:

“It was the worst balance I’ve probably ever had. Basically I had so much front end but no rears I had to turn… it’s not the way you drive. I had to yank the steering to break the traction from the front and slide the front through every corner."
"It’s the weirdest way I had to drive. I knew that I wouldn’t be able to overtake. It’s difficult to follow in the middle, but at least be close at the end. I don’t know why our pace was so bad on our side. It happens,” he added.

Lewis Hamilton analyzes his Azerbaijan GP on Sunday

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton stated that he had a 'great car' on Friday as he finished inside the top 3 in both practice sessions but was unable to extract the maximum out of the car in qualifying once again.

As quoted by the aforementioned source, the seven-time world champion said:

“We had a great car on Friday. We made the tiniest changes into Saturday. One of the components wasn’t correctly built. That led us the wrong way then on Saturday."
“We didn’t find out until the end of the day. Being this race was the best race they said at least to make the change. We need one engine as I lost one earlier. We knew it was going to be a tough day.” he added.

Hamilton was able to finish P9 and score two points courtesy of the crash between Sergio Perez and Carlos Sainz on the penultimate lap and cap off a difficult weekend on a slightly positive note.
