Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton revealed that he was "beyond honored" to be co-chairing the 2025 Met Gala next year. The seven-time world champion has made a name for himself outside the sport as well, especially in the world of fashion and entertainment.
Hamilton has been a regular spotter in fashion shows, around the world, and even has his own line with Tommy Hilfiger.
Lewis Hamilton took to his Instagram to share the news of his being a co-chair at the Met Gala 2025 with his fans. He would be sharing the responsibilities with Pharrell Williams, ASAP Rocky, Colman Domingo, and Anna Wintour with the theme 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style'. In his post, he said:
"I’m beyond honored to be one of the co-chairs for next year’s Met Gala, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. This theme speaks to me deeply. When I started my career I never imagined what I might be capable of beyond my sport. The pressure to conform holds so many people back. Growing up as the only Black kid on the track, so often that pressure got to me."
"Expressing myself creatively was and still is my freedom from that conformity. For Black people across the diaspora, fashion is self-preservation. Fashion is resilience, and I can’t wait to further explore and amplify our underrepresented voices. Thank you to the @metcostumeinstitute for the platform to uplift Black creatives on this scale."
Lewis Hamilton raves about Pharrell Williams's collaboration with LVMH
Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton stated that he has been aspiring to be like the music mogul ever since he was a kid as the latter has made a name for himself in two separate industries- music and fashion. Speaking with GQ India, the Brit reflected:
“We’ve got an opportunity to really lift people up, and let them get in the jet stream. I think about LVMH and, of course, I love Pharrell. He’s been, since I was a kid, just musically and creatively, someone that I really aspire to be like. And I was really split, having now been in the space, on the decision that LVMH took.”
Hamilton also spoke about LVMH's decision to make Williams the men's creative director of Louis Vitton and said:
"He did the work with Chanel, Billionaire Boys Club, he deserves it 100 percent. I’m loving what Pharrell is doing.”
The British driver recently made his entrance into the LVMH conglomerate to collaborate with Dior. He has been a key figure in bringing fashion to F1 as his walk into the paddock ahead of the race weekend is as anticipated as his performance in his car on the track.
Lewis Hamilton is often surrounded by photographers in the paddock who cover his outfits before the racing action starts.
