Carlos Sainz Sr. recently wrote an emotional message after being given the opportunity to drive the 2024 Ferrari F1 car around Fiorano. Sainz Sr. was accompanied by his son who recently left the Italian team.
The 2024 F1 Abu Dhabi GP was Carlos Sainz's last race with Ferrari. Before the 2024 season, the team announced that they would bring in Lewis Hamilton for the 2025 season and beyond, replacing the Spaniard. Since the actual switch will take place after 31st December 2024, Sainz and his father went to Fiorano for a special session with Ferrari F1 cars.
Both Sainz and Sainz Sr. were given the opportunity to drive this year's F1 cars around the Fiorano circuit. This was a special session conducted by the Maranello-based team, as part of a massive farewell to Sainz.
Soon after the session, Sainz Sr. posted pictures of the session and wrote a heartfelt message, thanking the team for giving him the opportunity to drive his son's F1 car. He also added that he drove the car in which his son won his first race for the team.
In the pictures, Carlos Sainz was seen assisting his father with the car. One picture also showed the former Ferrari driver, his father, and team principal Fred Vasseur talking to each other.
"I don't want to let another second pass without thanking the entire Ferrari family for the unforgettable day. You can imagine that for someone with a huge passion for the world of Motorsport, driving a Ferrari Formula 1 in Fiorano is something unique and very special, but even more so if it is with the one that Carlos won his first race, I will never forget this day. Thank you!" Sainz Sr. wrote.
Carlos Sainz will move to Williams for the 2025 F1 season. He has already tested the British team's car in Abu Dhabi during post-season tests.

After it was confirmed that Carlos Sainz would move to Williams, his father told Marca that his decision must be respected. He later talked about how promising Williams' future project is. The Spaniard believed that the British team could bounce back and become a top team once again.
