Apart from attending major events that take place in Mexico, Sergio Perez's father also supports his son during the F1 season. Antonio is frequently seen in the Red Bull garage, supporting his son in most race sessions.
In the 2024 F1 season, Sergio has been struggling quite a bit. He is currently eighth in the drivers' championship table with only 151 points. Meanwhile, his Red Bull teammate, Max Verstappen, leads and defends the championship with 393 points.
Sergio Perez's father addresses rumors about his son's future in F1
Antonio Perez Garibay recently said that his son has no intentions to retire from F1 just yet. Speaking on the ESPN Racing podcast, he claimed that the Mexican media was weaving fake stories and should apologize for the same.
Perez Sr. added that Checo plans to retire from F1 after two years with Red Bull and that the team has been trying everything to improve the car not only for Verstappen but for his son as well.
“The media that said in Mexico he was no longer racing, that he was saying goodbye, should at least apologize. He will be here for the next two years. He has said it, he plans to retire with Red Bull, he was given the opportunity,” Perez Sr. said.
“Red Bull is the most professional team at the moment, the World Champion team. They are doing what is necessary to return, not only with Checo’s car but with Max Verstappen’s car," he added.
As of now, Sergio Perez has a contract with Red Bull till the end of 2025.
