Amid the mid-season summer break in Formula 1, Ferrari's star driver Charles Leclerc is spending some quality time with his girlfriend Alexandra Saint-Mleux. The couple is enjoying a trip on Leclerc's yacht with close friends and family.
Leclerc began his racing career with go-karts. After winning several local and national karting championships, he moved to the junior Formula division. Refining his racecraft, the young Monegasque kept progressing from Formula Renault, Formula 3, and eventually Formula 2. Being a part of the Ferrari Driver Academy, he got behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car in 2018 with Alfa Romeo.
The next season, Leclerc was promoted to Ferrari to drive alongside Sebastian Vettel. He was able to outperform the four-time world champion in both the 2019 and 2020 seasons. Leclerc has regularly been on the F1 podium since then. However, with McLaren and Mercedes-AMG getting their upgrades right, the #16 driver has had a difficult 2024 season so far.
Amid the F1 break, Leclerc decided to take a vacation with his girlfriend Alexandra Saint Mleux. Now, the latter has posted a few pictures of her and Leclerc's pet dog Leo on her Instagram page. Here's a look at the post:
Apart from the post, Saint Mleux has also shared the following on her Instagram stories:
“I feel like we are the fourth-fastest car at the moment” - Charles Leclerc urges Ferrari to bring more updates soon
Charles Leclerc has had a 2024 Formula 1 season full of ups and downs so far with Ferrari. The Monegasque racer has not been able to challenge the front-runners as often as he would have liked in the 14 races so far.
Leclerc scored two back-to-back podiums in the first three races of the year (third in Saudi Arabia and second in Australia). Apart from these, the 27-year-old stepped on the podium at Miami, Emilia-Romagna, and Belgium (third place in the mentioned Grand Prix).
However, the highlight of the season was his home race, the iconic Monaco GP. Leclerc dominated the entire weekend and was able to keep the fast-approaching Oscar Piastri of McLaren and his teammate Carlos Sainz at bay. He created history by becoming the second Monegasque driver to win the race after 93 years.
During a post-race media interaction at Spa-Francorchamps, Leclerc gave an honest assessment of how Ferrari stacks up against the likes of Red Bull Racing, McLaren, and Mercedes-AMG.
“I feel like we are the fourth-fastest car at the moment. I mean, the first part of the year for us was, for the first half, pretty positive; the second half struggling a bit more, trying to fix the issues," Leclerc said.
“We are just going to try and recharge our batteries during the break, come back, try and analyse, and hopefully bring new parts as soon as possible on the car to be challenging for wins again."
With a total of 177 points in the season so far, Charles Leclerc is currently sitting in third place in the drivers' standings, behind RBR's Max Verstappen (277 points) and McLaren's Lando Norris (199 points).
