Kimi Raikkonen's son, Robin Raikkonen, recently celebrated after winning the Swiss RMC Karting Championship in the Min Max category. The youngster was spotted celebrating his first major victory as he gradually formed his racing career.

On 28 September 2024, the season finale of the Rotax Max Challenge Switzerland took place in Wohlen in difficult rainy conditions. This already made it difficult for drivers, especially younger ones, to compete with their full strengths.

In the final race of the season, Robin topped the time trial session and kept the lead in the first and second stints. In the third stint, however, Marcel Arunno, another junior karting driver, took the lead on dry tires when the weather was opening and won the race by seven seconds. Kimi's son finished third but was crowned the Swiss RMC champion because of the overall standings.

After winning the race, Robin was seen celebrating with his team by masterfully opening the champagne bottle and spraying it on them. The clip was originally posted by Robin's mother, Minttu, and was quickly circulated on various social media platforms.

Robin's mother also posted a picture with her husband and former Ferrari F1 driver as they continued the celebrations. These pictures were later posted by a motorsport fan account ColMotorFans on X.

Even before Kimi Raikkonen retired from F1 in 2021, he already started training his son for karting races and championships. The Rotax RMC Switzerland championship was the first for the 9-year-old. He will now race in the Rotax RMC Grand Finals that will take place on 19 October in Sarno, Italy.

Kimi Raikkonen took his son for sim racing in Maranello

In January 2024, Kimi Raikkonen posted a clip of him and his son, Robin, testing out sim racing rigs in Maranello, home to Ferrari's headquarters.

Kimi and Robin were seen testing out sim racing rigs from SIM Maranello company. This is where the young Finn also experienced what it feels like to drive an F1 car through the highly advanced motion simulation on the rig. Kimi Raikkonen wrote about how he was slightly faster than his son but hoped that Robin would soon overtake him in lap times as he grew. He wrote:

"Great day with Robin at the @sim_maranello. Robin loved the feeling of real speed with the simulator and it for sure is good practice for the upcoming season. I also got to try the simulators and I am really impressed of the accuracy and feel of it. I was still a bit faster, but not for long, the boy is fast."

To boost Robin Raikkonen's racing career, the 2007 F1 world champion himself became his mechanic and mentor.
