Lewis Hamilton of Great Britain and Mercedes GP talks with Sebastian Vettel of Germany and Aston Martin F1 Team in a Drivers Press Conference

It is being reported that Lewis Hamilton had called former four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel to know more about Riccardo Adami. The British driver would be joining Ferrari at the beginning of the 2025 season to replace the departing Carlos Sainz on a multi-year deal.

His move to the Italian team from Mercedes surprised everyone in the paddock as he had been an integral part of the German team since the 2013 season. Hamilton won six of his seven world championships with the Brackley-based outfit from 2014 to 2020.

As reported by Giuliano Duchessa on his social media, Lewis Hamilton called up his friend and rival Sebastian Vettel to get more information about Riccardo Adami, who used to be the race engineer for the German during his six-year tenure with Ferrari. Adami is currently the race engineer of three-time race winner Carlos Sainz and has been an integral part of the Spaniard's success.

After Hamilton announced that he would be joining the Prancing Horses, some reports suggested that his race engineer, Peter Bonnington, would be following him to the Italian outfit as well. But as per reports from Giuliano, it looks like Adami would continue his role and help Lewis Hamilton integrate within the team.

Lewis Hamilton analyzes his first podium of the season ahead of Austria

Lewis Hamilton stated that it felt good for him to have races like Barcelona where he finished P3 after a difficult start to the season.

Speaking with Sky Sports, the seven-time world champion said:

"It feels good to have races like that. Sometimes you don't get to have a race like that where you get to have your elbows out and have some really fun and challenging overtakes, but that was a really fun one for me. Barcelona always puts up a good race and it's been a strong one for me for many years."

The Mercedes driver also previewed the 2024 Austrian GP this weekend and claimed that there was a 'great energy' within the team after their recent resurgence in the last couple of races:

"Probably just the whole team is, not necessarily on a high, but there's a great energy within the team that we finally have the direction that we need to be working towards."
"People in the factory definitely have a spring in their step and for me, for sure, it feels good to be back in a competitive position. I just want to continue it, but we don't want to get ahead of ourselves for sure." he added.

Mercedes with George Russell and Lewis Hamilton have secured back-to-back P3 finishes in Canada and Barcelona respectively, with the former even claiming a pole position in Montreal.
