Seven-time Formula 1 Drivers Champion Lewis Hamilton is rumored to be one of the investors in the KTM MotoGP team. The Briton, who earlier expressed interest in investing in a MotoGP team, is reportedly in talks about a buy-in to the Austrian Team.

Pit Beirer, the Motorsports Director at KTM, recently spoke to the German publication Speedweek about the possibility of having the 105-time F1 race winner join the MotoGP team as an investor. He said:

"All I can say is that we have had very interesting discussions with his management. It is no secret that Lewis Hamilton is interested in MotoGP and is thinking about having his own team. There are concrete discussions here too."

While the former Mercedes driver has currently not invested in a MotoGP team, he was linked with Gresini Racing about buying their satellite MotoGP team earlier this year. One reason why KTM might be looking for new investors might be the research and development expenditures they'll have to deal with in 2027 with new regulations entering the sport. The bike manufacturer is also dealing with insolvency due to their reported liabilities currently estimated at three billion Euros (via the-race.com).

Lewis Hamilton is also a current part-owner of the American football team Denver Broncos, so this would not be the first time the driver would be investing outside of his primary sport.

Hamilton recently completed his final season with Mercedes, whom he joined in 2013. Since then, he has gone on to win six drivers' championships, eighty-four races, and 153 podiums. He will race for the Italian team Ferrari from the 2025 season.

Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc's Ferrari to be revealed early next year

Lewis Hamilton goes into the 2025 season racing for Ferrari alongside his new teammate and returning driver, Charles Leclerc. It was announced last week that the Italian team's car would be unveiled in a ceremony on February 19th.

While the details of the launch are currently unknown, what is known is that after the launch, the team will go to Bahrain where Hamilton and Leclerc will each get a day-and-a-half of testing before the season begins.

In regards to the British driver having this rushed schedule with his new team, team principal Fred Vasseur spoke to the media earlier this month at Ferrari's Fiorano test track. He said (via F1.com):

“It means this will be a rush, but I’m not worried at all. He [Hamilton] is coming with experience of this. He did almost 20 seasons in F1 – and he will manage perfectly this period.”

Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc will race alongside each other for Ferrari once the season begins in March with the first race in Melbourne, Australia.
