Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton driving Ayrton Senna's McLaren MP4/5 race car on a rain-soaked Interlagos race track was a dream come true moment for F1 fans. Addiitionally, Hamilton's former McLaren teammate, Mark Norris, expressed his joy at reuniting with the former champion through an Instagram post.

After winning the 2006 GP2 Series, Hamilton began his Formula 1 journey with McLaren in 2007. With multiple wins and podium finishes, the Briton finished second in the 2007 driver's championship. Continuing the momentum, Hamilton grabbed his maiden championship title in 2008. However, after being unable to contend for the title in the next five seasons, the Stevenage-born racer moved to Mercedes-AMG in 2013. Since then, he has dominated the sport, adding six more titles to his illustrious career with the German team.

With Senna being one of Hamilton's inspirations, the latter paid tribute to his Brazilian icon by driving his 1990 title-winning McLaren race car around around the Autodrome Jose Carlos Pace race track in Sao Paulo. This gave Hamilton a chance to reunite with his former teammates from the British outfit.

Mark Norris, Director of Trackside Operations at the Papaya Orange team, shared a couple of pictures alongside Hamilton on his Instagram page, expressing delight at working with the seven-time champion after around 12 years.

Here's a look at Norris' post, captioned:

"Great to work with Lewis again, driving Senna’s MP4-5B in Brazil last weekend. Car looked and sounded amazing!"

Hamilton further delighted F1 and Senna fans at the venue by waving the Brazilian flag while doing the final lap around the race track. A video of the special moment was shared on X by a Hamilton and Mercedes fan.

"We are still in love" - Lewis Hamilton on ending a long-standing partership with Mercedes at the end of 2024

After driving for Mercedes-AMG for around 12 years, Lewis Hamilton is set to drive for Ferrari from 2025 onwards. Despite the Briton leaving the Brackley-based outfit, he claimed he is "still in love" with the team in Mercedes' new all-access book, Inside Mercedes F1: Life in the Fast Lane.

"I feel like I am ending a relationship that is perfectly fine. We are still in love. I have not lost faith in the team, I am just leaving for myself. It has been a childhood dream - I think it is probably the same for every kid who loves motorsport, you know? Driving the red car," Hamilton said.
"I thought about it long and hard over the winter (2023). It was a heavy time. I have this amazing thing going on here, after all. It has been a huge privilege and I genuinely love working with everyone. I also know moving is a big risk, but then I love risk. In the end, I just could not get it out of my head. I have got to try," he added.

As for his 12th and final season with the Silver Arrows, Hamilton is placed seventh in the driver's table, while Mercedes is fourth in the constructor's championship.
