According to the latest developments, Lewis Hamilton is linked with the Gresini Racing MotoGP squad, as the seven-time world champion is reportedly in talks to buy the Ducati-powered MotoGP team. The Brit, well known for his entrepreneurship ventures, reportedly expressed his desire to be a part of the MotoGP world. As per The Race, Hamilton's close aides were present at the TT Circuit of Assen this weekend which further strengthened the reports.

The anticipated ownership of Gresini Racing by Lewis Hamilton is the next big F1-related news after Liberty Media's interest in MotoGP. Liberty Media which owns Formula 1, is currently in the process of taking over as the owner of MotoGP.

This could prove to be a boost for Liberty Media as well, as Hamilton's association with the sport would provide a further impetus. Furthermore, the Mercedes driver's involvement with brands such as Petronas and Monster Energy, [they also have connections with MotoGP] could also add to the MotoGP move.

Gresini Racing currently operates under Nadia Padovani. It was founded by the late Fausto Gresini in 1997, a two-time 125 cc champion. The team stands as one of the most recognizable teams in the current MotoGP spectrum.

Marc Marquez, the driver #93 Ducati, and Alex Marquez, the driver of the #73, are the two MotoGP drivers of Gresini Racing. Besides them, Manuel Gonzalez and Albert Arenas drive in Moto2, and Matteo Ferrari and Alessio Finello drive in MotoE. Gresini Racing MotoGP is currently in P3 in MotoGP competition with 210 points.

Lewis Hamilton has a long-time association with MotoGP. He is friends with Fabio Quartararo, the 2021 MotoGP champion, and has a decade-long connection with Valentino Rossi, a legend of the sport.

Lewis Hamilton and Valentino Rossi swapped their racing machinery in Valencia, Spain, in 2019 when the Mercedes driver rode Rossi's 2019 Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP YZR-M1. In return, the Italian biker drove Hamilton's 2017 Mercedes-AMG W08.

"It's so awesome to see a legend like Valentino in the car. I'm excited for him, for discovering the car for the first time," said Hamilton (via mercedesamgf1.com). Reminds me of my first time in an F1 car. When you see all the team around you, it's just a different animal. It was so cool to be out on track and see Valentino ahead of me on the same bike."
"I was a big fan of Lewis' before but now I am even more. We had a fantastic day where the two top classes of motorsports not only met but worked together. I felt like a real F1 driver for a day. I didn't want the day to end. I also rode the YZR-M1 on track with Lewis. It was a proud moment for the team to share our passion with him," Rossi said, speaking about Hamilton.

Lewis Hamilton owns a stake in Denver Broncos and showed interest in acquiring Premier League clubs Chelsea and Manchester United in the past. However, none of that worked out. It will be interesting to see if he manages to acquire the Gresini Racing MotoGP team.
