Red Bull Racing's newest addition to their line-up, Liam Lawson, spoke about how he feels about his upcoming teammate Max Verstappen in a recent podcast interview. Lawson, who will drive beside the four-time champion next season, described Max as a grounded individual who is also a nice person.

In an announcement earlier this week, Sergio Perez, Red Bull's driver since the 2021 season, was confirmed to be leaving RBR. A day later, the news was released that Lawson would be taking Perez's spot next to Verstappen.

Speaking on the Pitstop podcast, Lawson was asked about his personal relationship with the Dutchman given that the 22-year-old has secured the Red Bull seat for next year. Talking about how the 2024 World Champion is outside the car and about their existing dynamic, Lawson said:

"He's such a nice dude out of the car, like [a] really really nice guy and really down to earth and very normal [...] so I'd say the relationship's good." [32:23 - 32:36]

After it was announced that the New Zealand native would be taking a spot on the grid next year driving for the six-time constructors' champions, he said in his official statement regarding his partnership with Max (via Red Bull Racing):

"I am super excited to work alongside Max and learn from a World Champion, I have no doubt I will learn from his expertise."

Liam Lawson, who competed in the 2024 season's last 6 Grand Prixes, raced for Red Bull's sister team Visa Cash App RB, earning four points thanks to his P9 finishes in Austin and Brazil.

In the Pitstop podcast, Liam Lawson also spoke about the experience of moving from a midfield team to a team like Red Bull, which fights for world championships.

Describing what it's like to be in a midfield team, Lawson said:

“You know you're never going to win a world championship in a midfield team so you're there and you're trying to do as much learning as you can and do development and try and prove yourself but it's almost like you're in another championship.” [38:04 - 38:15]

With Lawson now getting to race for RBR next year, he described the experience of moving to the team:

"[Y]ou get the chance to go to a team that actually is fighting, you know Max won the World Championship this year, so yeah it's mad.” [38:25 - 38:36]

Liam Lawson will be on the grid for the six-time constructors championship and eight-time drivers championship-winning team for the 2025 season once it kicks off with the first race in Australia.
