Williams F1 team principal James Vowles has hinted that Logan Sargeant could be replaced midway through the 2024 season and might not see out his contract. The American driver has underperformed in his F1 career so far and has been in the points just once, finishing P10 in Austin last year.

Sargeant has failed to match the pace of his teammate Alex Albon and has found himself at the back of the grid on numerous occasions. The 23-year-old has struggled with the Grove-based team since making his debut in 2023.

The Williams F1 team boss spoke to Sky Sports about Logan Sargeant's future within the outfit after a dismal start to the 2024 campaign and said (via formu1a.uno):

“He [Sargeant] knows that he wants to be there – he wants to perform. He wants to be there, and I want to give him every opportunity I can. But there will be a line in the sand when we have to make a decision at that point – both for ’25 and maybe for something this year. But we’re not there today."
“My priority at the moment is – let’s sort out the car because we have underperformed in that area. Not Logan, not Alex. Once we have a car at the right performance, then let’s assess what we are costing ourselves and if we are costing ourselves,” he added.

Logan Sargeant provides update regarding his future in F1

Williams F1 driver Logan Sargeant stated that he was focusing on himself amidst rumors of his exit from the team and pointed out that he had been 'happy' with his driving in the last couple of races.

Sargeant said (via PlanetF1):

“It is what it is. I’m just focusing on myself at this point. I feel like I’ve been doing quite a good job with what I’ve been given over the past six races, or since Suzuka really – I’ve been happy with the way I’ve been driving."
"I’m happy with what I’m doing and I’ll try and keep doing what I’m doing. Just try to execute some cleaner races and see what that brings. Honestly, it’s OK. It is what it is. Ultimately, that’s better for the team as well, so I’m just trying to perform the best I can from a personal level,” he added.

Sargeant is one of three drivers in the 2024 season, alongside Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu, who have failed to score a point this year.

However, his performances and results have improved in the last couple of races such as his P16 in the Sprint race in Austria where he outqualified and finished ahead of Alex Albon. Sargeant qualified P12 for the British GP and his qualifying time wasn't far behind the Thai driver's.
