Following the 2024 Mexico City Grand Prix victory, Carlos Sainz celebrated his race win in a grand style. The Ferrari driver, who claimed the second victory of the season, came home ahead of Lando Norris and his teammate Charles Leclerc. Interestingly, Sainz had Norris as a special guest during the wholesome celebration.

Sainz started the Mexican GP weekend in style, claiming pole position for the start on Saturday after a brilliant final flying lap in qualifying. He was over two-tenths faster than Verstappen, who qualified in P2.

On Sunday, the Spanish driver was in a league of his own. While Verstappen, Norris, and Leclerc, competed for the podium places behind him, the man from Madrid came home with 4.7 seconds to spare. Norris finished in P2, followed by Leclerc in P3.

Celebrating his race win, Sainz recorded a video and later posted it on his Instagram stories. The short video showed Sainz singing to traditional local music, with Norris sitting beside him. A fan later shared the video on X (formerly Twitter).

Describing the experience, Sainz wrote,

"Mariachi experience."

Mariachi is traditional Mexican folk music that is performed by a small group of musicians.

The two drivers were accompanied by the Ferrari driver's family and acquaintances who were present during the Grand Prix.

Thanks to the victory, Carlos Sainz solidified fifth position in the drivers' championship. He had 215 points before the race and was under threat from Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton and George Russell.

Following the triumph, he took his points tally to 240 and is now 51 points ahead of Hamilton in sixth. Max Verstappen continues to lead the championship with 362 points, followed by Lando Norris with 315, and Charles Leclerc with 291 points.

Carlos Sainz said he was "incredibly happy" after claiming his second victory of the 2024 season. He earlier took victory at the Australian Grand Prix, and the win on Sunday marked the fourth win of his career.

Sainz told the media (via F1.com),

"I’m incredibly happy!I’ve been chasing another win since Australia and getting it here in Mexico makes it even more special, as it almost feels like a second home to me with the incredible support of the Mexican fans!
"My family is also here this weekend, so I can’t ask for more.We knew losing a position at the start could happen, but regaining it quickly by diving down the inside into turn 1 was the key to the race."

With Sainz's victory in Mexico, Ferrari has now claimed three wins in five races, and as a result, the Italian team overtook Red Bull in the constructors' championship.
