F1 fans were left reeling after DJ Martin Garrix shared an image with Red Bull driver Max Verstappen, who looked drunk, on his social media from the latter's celebration of his fourth world championship. The Dutch driver once again proved his mettle as he displayed some outstanding race craft throughout the 2024 season to notch his fourth successive world championship.
After starting the season strongly, given that he won seven out of ten races, he failed to win any of the next 10 as the performance of the RB20 deteriorated mid-season and fell behind the likes of McLaren and Ferrari.
But after a late-season surge, Verstappen comfortably took the title in 2024 at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. Martin Garrix, who is worth $30M (as per Celebrity Net Worth) was present at the race and celebrated with his friend and shared the image of the party in which the Red Bull driver looked seemingly drunk.
F1 fans took to social media to give their reactions to Martin Garrix's picture of Max Verstappen on X, with one fan claiming:
"Max looks SO WASTED!"
'We love drunk Max,"
"My wasted king."
"What trophy is that haahahah," asked a fan.
"Wasted as F**K", said another.
"Party partyyyy yeaaaah," wrote another.
Former IndyCar driver heaps praise on Max Verstappen
Former IndyCar driver and F1 pundit James Hinchcliff stated that he was impressed by Red Bull driver Max Verstappen's additional mental capacity whilst driving an F1 car at its maximum.
While appearing on the Red Flags podcast, the four-time F1 world champion said:
"One of the things we talk a lot about with Verstappen is his mental reserve while driving. He has so much extra mental capacity available while going full throttle in the lead, thinking about his tire management and being on top of everything anyway.
"The mental toll that takes is very hard to explain to people who haven't experienced it. Then also to be able to say, 'Hey, I don't think Lando slowed down enough during that yellow flag, can you look at that?' Are you serious?"
The Red Bull driver has won 63 races so far in his F1 career and has dominated the sport in the past four years. He will go into the 2025 campaign in his quest of becoming only the fourth driver after Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton, and Juan Manuel Fangio to win five titles. However, he would only be the second driver behind Schumacher to do it in consecutive years.
But the Dutch driver will once again be closely challenged by McLaren, who were the Constructor's Champions last year, and Lando Norris, who finished in P2 behind him. With four teams fighting for race wins, 2025 could be the hardest campaign for Max Verstappen.
